About The Event

Soul on Wax events are now in their 3rd year at the fabulous Hotel Victoria venue in newquay.

The las 2 years have seen the 1st or 2nd week of November staging an alldayer, due to mounting demand we are happy to announce this has now become a weekender.

This November fri 4th and sat 5th and sun 6th will become our  1st weekender

Fri night session and Saturday alldayer, with sunday wind down and farewell session.

We will be using the usual fabulous ballroom, and a 2nd room (free style and genres to be arranged), we have secured 3.am finishes fo both sat and friday  nights, with a nice wind down 'til 8pm on sunday.

great d.j.'s  from all over the country playing right across the board.

the mainroom is large with lovely dancefloor and sound system, it has a large bar and

large sunroom with panoramic sea views, this will be a real bonus on sat 5th as newquay town council have spent thousands  of punds on a spectacular fire work display for guy fawkes night which you will be able to see in comfort from the ballroom.

the venue is close to all amenities as it is in the center of town, well served by restaurants, bars, and other hotels and b&b's, with the station a 2 minute walk

it has it's own car park and others nearby.

and beaches on it's doorstep.

all in all everything for an amazing soul weekender.

Pretty much echoing what Andy and Paul have said.
Well done Lee, Jo and Dean, true to form, certainly know how to throw a great soul party!

Headline has to be 'very enjoyable'.  Great location (Newquay and it's fabulous Cornish coastline) and venue for a weekender - seafront hotel with sprung wooden floor ballroom, friendly crowd with lovely atmosphere.

From what I caught,  crackin' DJ sets (Lee Vowles, Jo March, Trickster , Dean Carr, Matt Trowbridge, Mark Sargeant, Jerry Hipkiss, Dave Stabler) throughout - popular 'across the board'  mix in the ballroom and have to mention Paul Rockey's set on Saturday night - excellent, a great mix of northern with a few surprises incl. Junior Walker 'monkey jump' and Big Lee Dowell which I guess many there hadn't heard before but tempted some to the dance floor whilst others were riveted, listening and foot tapping...applause followed.
Downstairs the smaller second room provided alternative rarer and underplayed freestyle sessions incl. a ska set !
Similarly impressed with the Sunday afternoon chill out session in the ballroom, comfy leather sofas et al . Sadly not as well attended as rest of weekender - the music was sublime but suffered numbers wise by early departures I suspect by the sheer distance many had to travel home for work on Monday. Great to catch up with Matlocks Paul Cater again and chat to lots of lovely people there.
Predict this weekender one will grow and grow further in popularity over the next few years as word gets out and reputation /reviews spread - hence we'll be back again next year - same weekend and not expensive for those travelling great distances by train - those bargain adv promo tickets come into their own as do reasonable flight costs to Newquay Airport or National Bus to London etc for those wanting an alternative to the car journey.
