Nick "Topsey" Turvey and myself, Tom; really looking forward to returning to this great venue.

Been a year since we were last here and packed that night.

Got the vibes of what needs to be played, so you will not be disappointed.

See you all Saturday.

Cheers........................    Tom.

Yes we are visiting again , this venue is getting to be one of the best.

In the surrounding area of Huddersfield, Brighouse and Bradford. Cheap bar prices, good floor and great DJS Who-may I say play for the people. Attending not just for friends or themselves. Everyone involved is so friendly and will help in anyway they can ,  only one thing I would say is get some badge on sale as not everyone likes the Ritz  because of the high price.  Drinks and some DJs as who play for the self just because they have a name in the circuit .So some people would like the badge but can't get them to support the clubs they like. It's only an idea , but we have asked many and they agree, so see if you can give it a try, bet they will sell well. aLso the club we attended last night had a stall  and we brought shirts and car stickers. But he did had Baggies etc, very reasonable price. WE have his contact details if you do consider this idea.  But the club is great spot on.  K.T.F

Well another good night with Lawrence and jools. However I am always honest and the  Banbury DJS did not keep dancers on the floor. Play one good dance tune then a very slow one, which stopped people from getting their groove on.We believe There is a difference in Yorkshire a Northern soul and London. However Lawrence and Jools played excellent tunes and achieved the outcome .  This club is becoming very popular with Northern soulers who enjoyed great tunes and friendly people.

Most of the people in the club have been regulars there  for many years - some since it opened over 13 years ago & it has been a well-established favourite on the soul scene since the day it opened. Jools & Lawrence are both known - & loved - for catering for a slightly wider audience & offer "a bit of something for everyone", offering - as it says in all their ads - a mix of 75% Northern, 25% Modern/crossover/ R&B & Southern Soul (or as you call it Dainty feet - London soul) Bringing in guest djs helps to add to the varied mix & in most cases goes down very well with all the regulars.

Newcomers are normally very pleased with the night  are very complimentary about the friendly, welcoming atmosphere & also the quality of the (all ovo) music played. It is not - & never has been - advertised as a Northern soul club. It is quite simply The Harold Soul club & long may it reign. Good on yer guys xxxx

Hello all, Tom here..................

Thank you for your honest feedback.  It is important - especially for the Promoters of this venue Lawrence and Jools.

Yes, not all uptempo 45's played continuously.  Mid-tempo , R&B , 7t's , 6t's Club Soul all thrown in alongside "out&out" Northern.

Really sorry to hear that it wasn't to your personal approval; just trying to give the Event a taste of something "different" from ourselves up from Banbury.  Why didn't you come up and have a chat with us on the night ?   Always ready to oblige paying punters with what they need to be played.

Started with the Tams - Hey girl don't bother me and finished with Celest Hardie.  Others included Betty Lloyd , Cajun Hart , Robert Thomas , Chris Clark , Mr Floods Party , Shane Martin , Terry Callier [Ordinary Joe].  Think the Tams must have been the slowest? but hey, great Club Soul from back where it all started.

Please continue to support this great Club and its Promoters.  Hopefully, we will be invited back. Come up and introduce yourself when we are - We'll buy you a drink and have a laugh about it all.   This CRAZY scene of ours.

Banbury Soul Club are @ Blackpool Weekender this June in the Solar Radio Connoisseurs Room with Richard Searling.  Come and find us and have a drink and a chat.  We are very approachable and fun loving.

Cheers........................    Tom.

Thank you Tom for taking the comment in the right manner. I always give reviews and it all started when I was asked by a promoter to give my opinion on his gig. So I do only give honest and olaso put others peoples comments in with mine as there are some people who say things but do not want to own it. So I am being honest in my reviews. However both of your sets did have some great tunes , but just not enough for those who was attending. I will introduce myself next time promise. k.t.f
