About The Event

Welcome to our second Matlock Bath Soul Night! THE MATLOCK BATH SOUL BASH . . . . Returning Northern Soul to the gem of the Midlands!

For many years Matlock Bath has been linked with bikers of all kinds, and is well renowned for being the only landlocked seaside town in the UK.  It's also the new home of Matlock Bath's first genuine soul night. Here at the Fishpond we have the ideal venue for hosting such an event and we're keen to ensure these nights attract the people that have a passion for Northern Soul.

Our venue, The Fishpond Matlock Bath goes way back to the early 1800's where it was originally the stables for the neighbouring New Bath Hotel. Early bus tours or "Charabancs" used to operate from here to Chatsworth and on to Dovedale. In the early 1920's it was converted to a Hotel and watering hole. Today The Fishpond has undergone a multi million pound investment and features a fantastic bar with Real Ales, good food and live music at its heart.  The Ballroom located upstairs has always been a popular venue for up and coming artists and today features the lovingly restored wooden floor, domed ceiling, and of course a bar (perhaps not the original one!). It has everything for the perfect Northern Soul Night.

We've enlisted some help from local Northern Soul DJ Paul Cater who has already set up some fantastic Soul nights in the region and with a little help from a range of local and national guest DJ's we're sure he'll guarantee you a great night. Guest DJ's will be named in due course.

So following on from our 1st Cracking night

NUMBERS WILL BE LIMITED so 1st come 1st served ,may be ticket only internet based

Change in DJ positioning to free up more floor

Door Control and last entry time.

Room  acclimatized during the daytime.

Enjoyed the first night but thought the price was a bit steep for a soul night in such a small room !  Also the room was too light, darker room creates a better atmosphere.  A good dance floor tho!.  Cheers ,  Phil &  Tina.

Cant agree with the pricing 5.5 hours of quality sounds Top quality DJs ,Music , Sprung Maple dancefloor, we can darken it though and glad you enjoyed it

Hi thank you for attending our first genuine Northern Soul Night and for your constructive comments. This was our first night so we take it all on board. Although we can't do anything about the size of the room we are looking at a different layout for our next event on 30th April maximising the available dancing space. We can make it darker still, that's not a problem either. These nights take a lot of time and preparation which the customers don't see, so the door money goes towards making it a great night to remember for all. We are focusing on ensuring our nights are true to the scene with no frills or gimmicks, just great vinyl music all the way, great people, great beer and great dancing in our quirky little ballroom . . . . Just like back in the day!

The 2nd Matlock Bath Soul Bash

HISTORY ! Yep matlock bath certainly has that with soul , from the days of the PAV  and the PAV reunion we bring you a throwback !

So just as to clarify that you can actually pay on the door @£5.00 .HOWEVER numbers are STRICTLY LIMITED so to ensure you actually get in you will need to purchase a ticket!
WE MAY HAVE TO TURN YOU AWAY if you do not have a ticket or the LIMIT has been reached .
Please dont shout at us ! its for your enjoyment and safety.

Following an excellent first event, with a few tweaks, this should be another cracking night!

Book your tickets in advance or get there early to avoid disappointment .. and bring your dancing shoes :-)

I think the first night took us all by surprise, excellent turn out and many faces from the past. Great night and im sure this second night will prove the same. Plenty of nearby parking - Across the road or around the back
