We have to echo these warm sentiments.  Been coming to Rammy since 2005 and have been treated to many a great night. Even on a quieter night the place holds a special atmosphere with friendly people and there is always good music across the board being played to ensure all are having a good time. This is due to the consistent labour of love shown by Des and Bev, two wonderful human beings and hosts of this excellent venue.

ps. Keep going you guys need to reach at least a 20th anniversary, I'm having a  customised zimmer frame made to get there!

Your eternal groupies Anne and Andy

Well said Twoshoes - couldn't have put it better ourselves (speaking after another excellent, though quiet, night at Rammy last night) Long may this wonderful soul venue continue to provide us with all you could wish for on a Saturday night with good friends & good music  Karen & Graeme xx

Some might say why review a night that's well established and has a  loyal following, a good reputation for catering for all tastes and is run by one of the nicest couples to frequent this scene of ours my answer would be for all of the above reasons.

As with all things in life with age we tend to take certain things for granted and don't know what we've got until it's gone, not that Rammy's going anywhere and this night is a lesson for anyone promoting nights, Des works the room a couple of times a night making sure everyone gets a word of welcome whilst Bev's warm friendly smile  is always the first thing you see on entering the room.

I'd missed the last three nights for personal reasons so it was good to get back in the Groove (that ones for Ian and Bernie), and meet up with people we hadn't seen for a few months  . We arrived early in a torrential downpour and with that team going into extra time it was a relatively quiet first hour attendance wise  the bonus being that the Diamond one played a cracking set of underplayed tunes that certainly hit the spot for me which set the tone for a night littered with great music from every genre of the scene. Ultra reliable Andy Childs played his usual mix of top tunes , Tom Dacey who I'd only heard once before brought something fresh to the night sadly not getting the dancefloor action he deserved with a fabulous set many of which(well almost all if I'm honest) were new to my ears, my respect for him growing when Des later informed us he was ill and was going home to bed after he had done his set which with commitment like that coming out on a dreadful night bodes well for the future of the scene if the other so called young guns are like minded.

The torch was passed to Pete Everett who also played marvellous  a set mixing classics with lesser known Rnb , rare and underplayed, great to notice having seen Pete a couple of weeks earlier that this set was by and large completely different to his one at the Civic , very refreshing when all to many of the so called top echelon of dj's I've seen play a tried and tested set .

All in all a top night showing what the scene is all about, the best music known to man or beast , a buzz in the air, friendly people, some knowledgeable chat about the good and bad on the scene, a few laughs and a decent enough pint to boot, what's not to like.

There's many a night available these days where anyone thinks they can put on something better than what's already there , you only have to look at the events page on here, we should never forget or take for granted the long running nights we all know about in our own areas run by deeply committed couples like Des and Bev, they deserve our continuing support and thanks for all the hard work involved.
