About The Event

Guest DJ Trevor Bond (Soul Cellar) returns with a box of Funky R&B and some soulful tunes too. Our downstairs ballroom has a wooden dance floor and a top class in house sound system.

The Licensing Board has granted The Rum Shack permission to open till 1am on Friday and Saturday evenings for private functions and charitable fundraisers. We’ve always wanted a late bar so the fun could continue after midnight. This provides the opportunity to continue dancing and also raise money for a good cause. This cause will be Starter Packs Glasgow whom I’ve known since I volunteered in Govan from where they support people who move into a new and usually unfurnished home. I’ve previously donated my fashion mistakes, CDs and doublers of 45s I have before going in to their shop The Magpie’s Nest and buying more of the same.

Mojo Workin’ will fund raise by asking patrons for a £2 donation on entry. This will be collected by The Rum Shack and will be forwarded to Starter Packs Glasgow. Myself and the guest DJs will continue to be paid by the bar. All door donations go to Starter Packs Glasgow.

City Centre venue in Glasgow .Populated by students and a variety of broad minded people .Some soul people in and like a lot of venues in City Centre bars you get groups coming in and out .What a contrast between the two guys who were playing .

One of them was giving us commercial motown ,spencer davis and at the lowest point Georgia Fame -say yeh yeh !!   The punters fuelled up with alcohol loved it all of it so you cannot really argue with that .On the other hand this is  a soul site and that is what we want .The 2nd guy well what a contrast we went from califirnia soul to hey there jim a beast of a tune from jimmy bo horne    .His other high points were zz hill think people and augusta georgia a 90s record that sounds like it was a 70,s record    funk   .Then the other guy came back and played more commercial motown  .All in all a goodish night full of party people who didnt care what they got and wanted a good time .        I made a donation toward the cause of £!0 .Thanks for the event guys and if you are in Glasgow go give this a shot next time its on .

Warmest Regards
