Groovin' at The Five Lamps - Derby

  25 Duffield Road  - Derby   DE1 3BH   GB

Groovin' at The Five Lamps

Event Information

Right then, we've been away for a while .... and after much prevaricating and knashing of teeth, we finally got our finger out  ...... so on, Sunday 8th May 2016 we will be Groovin' again, this time at our new home - The Five Lamps - 25 Duffield Road, Derby. DE1 3BH.

As per usual we'll be cranking it up from around 1.00pm through to around 8.00pm, no guest DJ's confirmed for this one as yet, but we've got a couple of 'irons in the fire'

All the usual suspects will be there - DenMac, Rob Kay, Dave Lucas & yours truly, offering some rather splendid soulful, ear and foot refreshment - we'd be really pleased if you could join us:thumbsup:

As regards the venue, it's all one room and wooden floors throughout, plus there's absolutely loads of real ales to choose from and food will be available through to around 5.00 pm
If you've not been before, there's parking for around 12-15 cars at the rear of the pub, but to access it you need to turn right from Duffield Road in to Kedleston Street - the Five Lamps is on the junction of these two streets - if the car park is full, I'd recommend going straight over the A6 (Garden Street) and continuing on to Kedleston Street and parking somewhere there.

Well, stuck the postcode in the set-up and it's showing a flippin' fire-place showroom a couple of doors down ....... I thought I'd managed to change it .... but obviously haven't - sorry!

Sat at the kitchen table, drinking tea and eating toast deliberating as to whether do a brief blast on the bike or not bother .... tempus fugit, as they say! - got in late - out in Walsall drinking orange juice, and didn't set my alarm doh!! Why am I telling you all this drivel? Well, it's because, later today, I and hopefully a good few others, will be Groovin' at The Five Lamps.
This is our first event at our new home - the recipe will be much like before, a few old blokes turn up with some of those black (mostly anyway) vinyl thingys and employ the use of a gramophone player to broadcast what's in the groove - simples! Well, it's only that simple because a very nice man, in the form of Mick Spencer, brings along his generators and crank handles and then welds it all together for us, otherwise, there wouldn't be any sound waves caressing your ears at all.
The key ingredient, apart from the aforementioned Mr Spencer, in all this is you, yes you, you're the one .... we need you there. There's a million different real ales on offer, well 25 'ish anyway, and there's food and there's music .... it all makes for a very enjoyable afternoon ..... go on, you know you wanna!
Go on treat yourself, take a walk down to The Five Lamps ......see you later, Kev.

Well done to all concerned - to me it looked a very smooth transition to the new location, but I know that was down to a lot of hard work behind the scenes . So hats off to you messrs Rob Kaye, Denmac, Dave Lucas, Kev,and of course that nice Mr Spencer. Nice to see the usual suspects were there in support.
