Townman 38 August 17, 2016 · Edited August 17, 2016 by townman 1 of 1 member say helpful 1 / 1 member Share this review Back from another top, top day at the Hungry Monk amazing achievement to reach the 16th year of Southport Soul On Sundays albeit at various venues, great crowd in the Monk and a top selection of tunes played by all the DJ's, good to see my good friend Phil Preston make the journey and good to meet his pal Barry who made us smile when someone knocked over a drink right where he was sat so he moved outside, so his £200 leather sole shoes didn't get ruined lol, If you have not been to the Hungry Monk before it is a little different I must stress not in a bad way, just that almost everyone tries to book a table early doors and has a meal (The food was excellent the wife & I went for the steak superb) music starts at about 3 and is fairly low key until around 4, then as the soulie diners finish there meals it transforms into a throbbing four to the floor northern soul extravaganza, highly recommended a must visit if you want something a little different on a Sunday afternoon, especially if you like good food, good ale, good company & great music ;-) ;-) ;-) Link to review
