Time on my hands today. Missus gone to Budapest for the Christmas markets . kids at work / school . getting organised like those Northern / Roots room boys . just phoned the dealer up to order a couple of things , cos lets face it we are junkies of the soul music kind. vinyl and  C.Ds all over the floor . digging into the collection to find some things for another MONSTER- CHARITY SOUL U.K  getdown. it really has been another great year for soul music. brand new cutting edge soul, stuff that's been in the can for years finally coming out and of course so many new mixes / edits giving a new lease of life to some old favourites. As with the other rooms the boys in the Modern room will be leaving no stone unturned to conjure up the very best mix of our genre .  X- OVER , PHILLY ,  70s movers , BOOGIE, STEPPERS , STREET SOUL, Deep ,80s ,JAZZ-FUNK , INDIE SOUL, NEO, SOULFUL HOUSE , four to the floor BANGERS ,GOSPEL.   Look out for artists like-  Kindred , big Lee Dowell ,Lee Fields, Puff Johnson , Trina Broussard, Leroy Allen , Luther Vandross , Sean McCabe, Soulutions, James [D TRAIN ] Williams , Arnold Blair , George Benson, Faye B , keith 'wonderboy' Johnson , Sunburst Band , Ann Nesby .Chris Jasper.  Of course some old favourites , but equally some under the radar , and underplayed tunes yet to have their day. you get the idea , tunes to dig out . any requests for the big day more than welcome. to quote a Northern room staple - GONNA BE A BIG THING [yum yums]

OK this is a clarion call to ALL soulies in GOC, and other extremities, I know it's near christmas and that is a major expenditure for most people, but if you like ATB soul music without any strings attached and where there is no I'm better than you attitude/been to _______/ and can recite top NS 500 in chronological order people, just TRUE peeps who love the craic/to dance/ socialise in surroundings second to none, then Headingley Stadium is the place to be (as a Tiger fan this sticks in my throat but hey ho).

We , the Charity Soul crew AKA, TOC, Tony, Geoff, Nige, Lodgie, BDO'N, Dekka are pulling out all the stops to make this the last a last great CS fundraiser for 2016, we need YOUR support to help fight the terrible disease that is Prostate Cancer and with YOUR bit it DOES make a difference. There will be some fantastic, exceptional and  unique soul based memorabilia  on sale which will make ideal xmas presents and of course we will be holding the traditional Charity Soul raffle for which we would respectfully ask you to purchase a ticket (or two) on entry to this event .........................................remember that this event is run by VOLUNTEERS, dj's, front of house, merchandisers, raffle helpers who do this for the cause and receive NO MONETARY REWARDS, all our profits from this event will got front line cancer research

Merry Christmas

can't really add much to what Dave has said above , sums everything up. but the remembrance coverage struck a chord on Friday/Sunday . with the coverage during the two minute silence going right round the country from primary schools to the other end of the spectrum, care homes . but in some ways all those super brave people that gave their lives  or were injured in the service of this country knew they were in danger whereas cancer is this ,silent ,insidious disease that has no respect for age or colour and devastates the lives of many . on a personal level my dad was taken by cancer and my mum is currently undergoing treatment so it really is superb to be involved in a MOVEMENT  like this where the money goes exactly where it needs to go [prof. Maitland] and not to some charity CEO on 200k a year. come on down and have a great day with some quality people.

Cancer is a terrible desease that has no scruples , Nothing and nobody is sacred and the devastation it causes is so unfair it's not real , so we have to continue in our battle against this shocking desease and hopefully one day the prof will discover something that stops suffering and gives people their lives back , so if you want somewhere to go on Saturday , come and support our cause at headingley stadium where between 4pm - 12am you won't hear better music anywhere than here , where all the profits will go to fight cancer at the lab , where the proceeds should be going and not elsewhere , so fingers crossed we will see you all there !!

For those not travelling by one of the organised coaches, car etc or flying into Leeds Bradford , Burley Park Railway Station is approx 10 min walk away (Headingley Railway station a similar distance ). Last train from Burley Park to Leeds is 23.04 (please check) then the all night ' Transpennine ' trains to York and Manchester .

11.30 A.M  in Manchester . [we have our own time zone you know] dark as night and lashing it down - well nothing new there then. but as soon as I drive past that stubborn farmers gaff' in the middle of the M62 [always makes me smile by the way - love to know the story behind that - are all Yorkshiremen that stubborn !] its instant  SUNSHINE , because its a CHARITY SOUL GETDOWN in all its glory.  playing a few tunes at home ,seeing what sounds good for the Modern room , as that other fiery Yorkshireman - Fred Trueman  used to say at the end of the awesome indoor league - I'LL  SI THEE

It was nothing to do with the stubbornness of the farmer it was because of the geology of the land and the cost involved. Being a Yorky I would have thought he would have snapped their hands off for a good pay day :D .

Right , can I respectfully suggest you stop surfing for those Black Friday bargains , that 50 inch telly can wait, cos at the charity soul All-Dayer at the Carnegie stadium in Leeds , you've got a massive screen full of your soul heroes, four rooms of Awesome soul, Northern- Modern- Motown and the Roots room, a live act , all for a Tenner.  must be the best bargain on the ''net'' today ,so treat yourself and join those smiling faces.

Ok folks not long to go to charitysouls last event of the year and it's looking to be a better. I'm usually on the door all day missing the fun and freezing my wit's it's off.

But for this one tocs letting me loose behind the decks in the main room 4 till 5pm. Only found out earlier I was getting an hour off the door so spent the evening sorting some tunes out.

Think it's gunna be a hour of forgotten oldies,  you know, the ones you say ain't heard in ages so for those in early no requests please i will be in my own world lol.

I think by now you'll know what the day is about & where all profits go but hey why not have a few sherbets, dance your socks off and generally have a great time knowing it's going to a great cause, see you in few hours.
