About The Event

The Manchester Soul Festival is back August Bank Holiday Sunday the 28th

With The Twisted Wheel joining us this year making 4 Northern Soul rooms, 8 Live Bands, 9 Trio & Solo Artist performing and over 30 DJ's playing throughout the Printworks in its many venues. This is a fund raising event to raise money for The Christie, last year we raised over £22,500 on the day with over 40,000 passing throughout the day. Everyone giving their time up for free for this good charity that effects us all.

This year the main stage has been named The Frank Byrne stage after Frank recently passed away, Frank set up the first one in 2015. If you go to one charity event a year make this the one. Wrist bands available for £5 which entitle you to many savings in the bars and food outlets are to be picked up on the day where your name will be on a list. link here for your donation www.justgiving.com/manchestersoulfestival2016 .

See you all down on the day Paul Kidd

AFTER THE PRINTWORKS

BANK HOLIDAY SUNDAY...  The biggest and best All NIGHTER  of the weekend ...  Come on Down  !!!

My last birthday fell on the Bank Holiday weekend in May. I was asked was it a special one, of course all birthdays are special and whilst I had a good weekend it was poignant with the loss that weekend of Frank Byrne and Paul Mousey Melia

I didn't know Frank personally but knew he was respected and loved by many. I only met Paul recently and we talked about about his fight with cancer and my health issues which paled into insignificance. I knew of his great efforts in raising funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust and offered my support. Again Paul was someone who was respected and loved by many.

So when asked by Steve Hay to DJ at the Printworks this year it was an immediate yes and I feel both honoured and privileged to do so. Last year raised over £22,000 and that figure is currently at £5,125 so could I ask you all to share this so we can reach the target and hopefully surpass it.

Its' a great event and an opportunity to honour Frank, Paul and raise some money for the great work Christies undertakes.

There is something for everyone, motown, northern and modern soul in abundance with some great live acts and DJ's. You can dip in and out of it all day.

The link to make a donation and get your wrist bands is at the end of this posting

I will be in Tiger Tiger along with soul buddies Nick McKinnon, Michael Taylor and double decking with my soulmate Linda Miller.

Expect to here some modern soul classics form the Ritz and Blackpool Mecca along with contemporary tunes.

Our shed, Wayne Butterworth will be in the Birdcage spinning northern

The day will be a rare pleasure, makes sure you don't miss it

I don't know why the post I put on here as gone?

But here it is again:-

Well the Big Day is nearly here, and just to avoid any confusion The Twisted Wheel Club All-Dayer is in the Basement of the Bierkeller  in Shooters Sports Bar. Which is a great big room with a stage and a big screen at the back of us, projecting 60's film images.

It's going to be a great day with 6 Twisted Wheel Club Dj's  John Green- Jock Heron- Andy Scoffin-Derek Smiley- Paul Davies- Pete Roberts, which we are all looking forward to Immensely.

Lets hope we can beat last years fantastic amount of £22,500 I'm sure that we can! If we all attend.

Hoping to see you all on Sunday at the Printworks for the Big Christie Hospital Charity Day.

Regards

Pete Roberts.

Are we all doing it for the right reason?

Massive interest in this great event lets hope last years total is equaled or even better surpassed.

Just a reminder that Manchester's Twisted Wheel Club will have its own venue in Shooters Sports Bar (entrance from the Bierkeller I believe) - playing all the records that made No 6 Whitworth St the iconic venue it was from 1965-71 and 2000-12.

Come and say hello to either Jock, John, Paul, Andy, Derek and myself at some point during the day, we are all proud to be supporting such a great cause.
