Well a great big thank you to everyone who came and made it one of our best nights. Both our regulars and new faces. Sorry I couldn't get to talk to you all, busy collecting glasses all night!

I know it was a bit hot and eventually the heating did turn off. Honest, we didn't do it so you would drink more:wicked:

Thanks to Phil Stones for his great spot mixing up some R& B classics with some modern/crossover tunes (Etta James, Albert Washington, Bobby Womack etc.

Phil also didn't want paying so thats fifty quid to the stroke association charity event on the 12th November (check it out on SS)

Thanks to Bill for his objective and well balanced review (sorry Bill it was me who sold Andy that Mark Williams)

Thanks to Steve behind the bar for his hard work. Fear not there will be plenty of staff on NYE (nearly sold out so contact me asap)

We play a real mix at the Carlton Club and will always try and play your requests, dont be shy and come and ask (Notts Lynn!)

Heres a few I can remember playing

Mario Biondi ( This is what you are) ,Big Lee Dowell ( What I done wrong), Greg Perry (it takes heart(, Little Richard (I'm Back), Gale Garnett (I'll cry alone), James Walsh Gypsy Band (Cuz its you girl), Cliff Nobles (gettin away), John Lee Hooker (Money)

Andy and Linda played a mix of Reuben Howell, Ruby Andrews, Big Mama Thornton, Jackey Beavers, Superlatives

Wayne (Big Shed) wasn't well on Saturday but should be on the mend for next month  (26th November) when we have the ping pong king Derek Whatmough as guest DJ, so should be some great tunes on offer. Can't wait.

Great to be back at the Carlton after a three month absence and what a night it was. Quite a few new faces, attendances have been steadily growing since we first came around eighteen months ago and last night's saw a healthy number enjoying the tunes played by all the dj's.

I've often wondered are the people who are influenced where to go by a flyer put off by the design of the Carltons which with it's Northern slogans gives the impression to me at least that it could be a top five hundred kind of event playing the tried and tested, nothing wrong with that if that's what you like to listen to, in the Carltons case nothing could be further from the truth, regular dj's and promoters Linda, Vance and Andy sadly no Big Shed last night, get well soon Wayne all played cracking sets spanning all genres of this great music ably backed up by guest Phil Stones who embraced the Carlton ethos , sure you get a fair selection of the well known as they try to please everyone but there's also no end of tunes that were new not just to me but to the group I was with.

Last night saw a fair old chunk of r n b mixed in with modern /crossover and everything in between. Nice surprise early on to hear Womack's Just My Imagination a tune I haven't heard since I sold my Womack albums twenty years or more ago. They're also not afraid at the Carlton  to slow it down every now and then  playing  beat ballad kind of stuff more than any other venue I've attended which suits me fine.

With true cheap bar prices , a decent sized dancefloor, friendly atmosphere what more could you want, well one thing actually, (tongue firmly in cheek)Andy for f***s sake save that Mark Williams House For Sale for your front room or even better put it on a radiator it'll curl up a treat and make a lovely pot pourri dish.

Vance, Big Lee Dowell, magic!
