About The Event
Hi all - the Committee have requested that the soul nights that have been running here since 2008 be carried on and we switching back to the old Friday nights -4th in the month - so as not to clash with anyone nearby. Times will be 8.00pm - until late - I know this late bar thing is ambiguous but the situation is that the bar will be kept open if there are enough drinkers-we have regularly rolled out of the Libs at 1.30 am etc!
I have now agreed to promote this night taking up the mantle left by the wonderful Mick Lait and Jon Hucknall (who spent many long years building it up)- alongside a reputation for playing good quality Northern Soul on vinyl. The first of the new nights will be on Sept 23rd when the Guest DJ's will be Elvis Davis with his original collection of 45's and vast experience of the scene then and now, and current local Soul DJ Darren Deeley (Collingwood Hotel/Bagshawe Arms) assisted by residents Steve B Burke and myself doing the warm-ups. For anyone who hasn't visited already this is a small club with a youth club feel to it, tiled dance-floor-with a quiet room in the other side with friendly bar staff. I will be looking for hour long guest spots from quality guests locally which are paid at £25 for the hour. So if you fancy doing this please get in touch with me via SS.
