Guest Miss Dee Posted September 26, 2017 Replying to The Walker Sisters: "Have been going to Skeggy since Year 2 giving the move to the Central a miss. Since Skeggy has been back in it's rightful home it has struggled to capture its unique vibe. Always a friendly, soulful gig, I'm sad to say its all but lost its magic. Friday night was authentic, Saturday ok. but the afternoons, were shockingly poor, save for Soul Sam (last hour Sunday). My loyalty to this weekender will likely continue as it holds so many fantastic memories of friends past and present. Bring back the Skeggy DJ stalwarts." No idea why I can't answer directly to The Walker Sisters' post - no quote button But.......Last year we had ONE negative comment out of hundreds of positives and that negative comment was YOURS. Why even bother coming if you had such a bad time last year? You could see the DJ line-up advertised on here and Facebook - so presumably you knew what to expect. We have no idea who you are referring to as the Skeggy DJ stalwarts as you have given no names.....their allegiance probably lies with other weekends now - maybe it's time for you to do the same. Your loyalty to our weekender only matters to us if you enjoy it....and whilst we take each and every criticism of the event seriously, we would like to think that the vast majority of our supporters would do the decent thing and come and have a chat or send a PM, instead of bleating on a public forum about it not being the same. Look forward to hearing all about how much you hate it next year Link to comment
Woza1 60 Posted September 26, 2017 Thank you Mr Raistrick & Team, for another fantastic weekend , 16 of us from THE OLD BROGUES SOUL CLUB, made welcome and provided with some storming soul sounds, Thank You All for making this weekend so enjoyable. Guest Walker sister Posted September 26, 2017 Firstly Miss Dee I was not bleating I was posting an opinion which in a free and democratic state is my right to do so. Do I deserve this vitriol for not posting 5* . For your information I have no allegiance with any weekenders, and have patronised Skeggy for 17 years mostly twice a year, so if anything my allegiance lies with Skeggy. Thankyou for your invitation to go elsewhere I will duly oblige. So sorry you won't be reading 2018 comments. Link to comment

Why then, if your allegiance lies with The Original Skegness Weekender did you not exercise any democratic diplomacy and speak to any of the promoters before posting your opinion? Surely after 17 years you should realise how approachable and friendly we are? We've had plenty of 5* comments already, and we certainly don't berate anyone who offers constructive criticism - we've always been open to any suggestions and aim always to collaboratively improve the event year on year - so vague, destructive and frankly insulting comments from the same person TWO years running will always receive a frosty reception. Sorry you will not be moving forward with us. Link to comment
Popular Comment Dave Raistrick 95 Posted September 27, 2017 Popular Comment Well it’s taken a couple of days to surface. Who’d have thought we’d still be saying a big THANK YOU to supporters old and new after 18 years??!! Thank you for helping us celebrate - and for ignoring that apparently we are supposed to become certifiable responsible adults upon reaching the age of 18 Huge thanks to Mick, Nettie, The team of Dj’s who once again excelled themselves, Jim and Pip the door staff, sound men David and Marco, also the staff and management at the Grosvenor, and most of all to YOU, the crowd of loyal friends who every year make it what it is and more. Without you we most definitely wouldn’t have been celebrating our milestone Birthday. See you next year - love to you all and Thank You again, Dave & Donna 6 Link to comment
