Northern Line 7th Anniversary Guest Dj Dave Evison

Hi Folks!

We hope that you all had a great Christmas and New Year, that Santa well and truly filled your stockings and that the credit card bills have not yet arrived!

This year we have a full 12 events for your listening and dancing pleasure and this is because Christmas Day in 2017 falls on a Monday, so we can squeeze in a cheeky December event on our usual 4^th Saturday.

Our first event in 2017 is on Saturday 28^th January and it’s also our 7^th Anniversary.  As I write this I can’t believe just how quickly the last 6 years has flown by (hell...my first marriage lasted less than ½ this time)!  Whilst this is a milestone event for us it’s tinged with sadness knowing that John ‘Biff’ Griffiths won’t be with us.  Starting our first full year without John is a daunting and a sad prospect though we’ll continue to do our best to honour John’s memory and apply the quality music policy upon which he’d insist.  To that end I’ve been trying to acquire either records that John would have played (but I had no copy) or records about which I’m reasonably confident he’d approve.  I’ve often been skint as a result of John putting me on to new or reactivated sounds...and the best part of a year since his passing he’s still a constant influence (and an influence in which I take comfort) and is still costing me a packet!

We have secured the services of Mr Dave Evison for your special pleasure as our guest DJ.  I won’t even attempt to provide a résumé for Dave...it’d be quicker to list where he’s not DJ’d than where he has.  Suffice to say that you’re guaranteed a great set, with the emphasis on quality oldies and tunes that’ll get your toes tapping and feet moving.  And as a special anniversary present there’s a complimentary, free gratis, FOC, ‘on the house’ quality CD that reflects the sounds we’re playing...if you want to bag a copy you’ll need to be quick as they’re only available to the first 50 through the doors (1 CD per couple).

I shudder to think how many top new sounds Ben Moses has acquired since our last event in November, but given the rate at which he’s been buying then, in addition to nabbing the CD, I’d urge you to get to the event early enough to hear his new sounds as Ben always kicks the event off at 7:30 (as well as double-decking with me later in the night).  Since our last event Moz has got himself a Maurice Williams, so I must make a mental note to play/not to play (I’ll let you guess which course of action I’ll be taking...) my copy just before he takes over from me!
