That was alright wasn't it :D

I'll try not to make this sound like an award speech but can't promise lol. For the first time we came away thinking that was great; sound was absolute perfection (nice one Pip), all the DJs were awesome (John had a ball and loved it) and the crowd second to none as always. You travelled from all corners including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Wales, Yorkshire and London. Once again it was the perfect mix of never miss-ers and first timers, fab! You guys make Grumpy what it is so thank you

We'll have a look for a date before Christmas but defo back with at least three next year so watch this space!

xx

Hey Dale it would be one helva big senior moment for me to give Ree Flores away for nought!, flatery will get you nowhere mate.:D Saturday night was a mighty fine hoedown, a scene of much joy and gaiety, with deep and meaningful conversations involving ZSTC numbers (George Sharp) and honey monster sightings in Stoke (ask Jackie Sharp) oh and  the bloody demented dancin' cat  !!!, then like a bolt of lightening you find something out that changes your opinion of a friend forever, what and whoever could this be I hear you all cry, well I tell you The might Philip (Pip) T who's huge hands used to weld a lump of willow violently against 6 ounces of the finest English leather albeit only on a total of 3 occasions during his entire first class cricketing career has actually taken up the noble art (well girlie hobby) of Embriodery  like a duck (and he's had a few of those) to water !!!!!!!!

It was a master stoke adding Johnny Manship to the DJ line-up not only for the excellent tunage he spun but for once I wasn't the oldest DJ on th bill.

Bit late - but what a fantastic night that was. Music and atmosphere absolutely electric. Sound system was the best its ever sounded. Hard not to have a great night when you look up at the decks and see DJ's of that calibre absolutely loving it themselves. I said after the Anniversary that it was probably the best night I'd attended and Saturdays was every bit as good as that.

All it needs to make it the perfect event is for that nice Dave Welding to have 'a moment' and send me his Ree Flores in the post

I had a great time, the pies were fab, the beer was flat and warm, very loud and lotta people jumping around
making having a good time sounds.
Then bloody alarm went off, another boring F***G day!!

Yeah agree Phil, ticked all the boxes, sound system was crystal clear. Great to see John Manship behind the decks, all the DJs provided the ultimate blend of tempos from the 60s/70s Ultra rare and quality cheapies rubbed shoulders to equal effect and the dance floor never missed a beat. The only slight negative was the dreaded talc overuse towards the end of the night. Looking forward to the next event !!!

Four weeks to go until session number two at the 'new' club then. First one was brilliant and packed-out; looks like this will be too. Mr Manship guesting this time out and he usually throws a couple of curve balls so looking forward to that. Us usual suspects filling in the gaps.

We spent a morning checking and bashing the brains out of our revitalised sound system at the weekend - not that we're excited, obsessive or anything - and, without wanting to jinx the blighter, it sounded absolutely banging so that's good news.

More to follow in due course.

See you down there

The Coach House 1.4 miles from venue

Village Hotel, Chester St Davids 1.8 miles from venue

Holiday Inn, A55 Chester West 2.9 miles from venue

Anyone still need directions to the old grumpy venue.

Joan . Phil and the gang.  Just double checked work planner and I'm definitely playing out.  Yippee nearly cancelled holiday because it clashed with your opening night but the threat of death off Lou changed my mind. So this is my opening night.  Bring it on.

Cheers Bob and Steve, great that you can make it. You'll love the venue, proper old school, perfect for Grumpy.

We always welcome record dealers but as there's no longer an orangery, if you could please let us know if you'll be bringing anything more than a small box we'll get you set up

A little over two weeks to go then, can't wait

Back off my hols and really looking forward to Saturday week. Mr Manship's up for it too it seems so looking good.

For anyone thinking of giving it a whirl for the first time there's no free CDs, gym, spa or tai chi facilities I'm afraid, plus youre not gonna cop for a night load of the same records you'll hear everywhere else either.

So, to avoid confusion and disappointment, all you'll get for your six quid is a dark, hot n sweaty room (old skool I think the kidz'd call it), seven hours of proper records, a quality sound system, a good dance floor and (hopefully) a room full of like minded people who think it's worth travelling from all over for.

Oh aye, there's also a slightly sinister mechanical cat which spins while 'singing' Dana's all kinds of everything. Bargain!

A slightly sinister cat, sounds like a lost episode of The Twilight Zone (let's hear it for The Astors) what ever next a female Doctor Who !

Right then, only a week to go and I'm chomping at the bit. Heading down from Perthshire with Haydn and Alice in tow (who themselves are making the trek from Aberdeen).

So who else is coming?

Tell you what Phil, if you can throw some toilets with in built water feature, I think you may have created Utopia:lol:

No dates confirmed as yet. We're onto it though; might squeeze one in before Christmas, will see how it goes. Really depends on calendar, work commitments etc.

Will be more in 2018 for sure so hope to see you. Watch this space.

Cheers

Absolutely gutted to miss what would have been my first venture into the dark world of the new grumpy soul venue  at deeside.  Had a suprise 60th for a old friend which I couldn't miss. Joan.  Phil and the gang looking forward to seeing the dates for the next instalments so i can make my longer than expected return to what surely is the best of the best that soul can offer.
