Yes I agree with Steve s 60,although we enjoyed the performances,of the two artists,They were both short and sweet, and yes I am sure there was time to get a replacement for Leroy Huston,I also thought the sound system was below power,Plus we thought some DJs were singing off the same hym sheet,as on sat night alone The shakers were plugged at least three times,Anyway we went, the weather was great, the people were great,But with a price hike (not surprised, have us SOULIES got deep pockets,)we will give next year's a MISS,

Enjoyed the weekend overall, but like many others who attended, I feel short changed with the live acts, with what amounted to an hour and a quarter of live performances over a three day festival.  Yes, I am aware that Leroy Hutson had to pull out after a car accident, and I wish him a speedy recovery, but was any effort made to acquire a replacement act? The Impressions were a class act, but the sound in the main hall was absolutely abysmal.  Little Anthony WITHOUT the Imperials?  They appeared as a group on the same bill as the Impressions only a month ago in the States, and they're back together in Vegas this Friday.

Let's hope next year's festival is worth the 40% price hike in the cost of the early bird tickets, which incidentally were only available at the "discounted" price over the weekend.

Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend. It must take a lot of hard work to put on an event this big. For me the positives were getting to see The Inpressions and Little Anthony who were great. Whilst the ballroom was an impressive venue, musically it wasn't for me. I much preferred the Spanish Hall especially Mick H, Simon Hunt, Ted Massey and Mick Taylor who all played stunning records. I also enjoyed The Gillows with some lovely crossover and 70s stuff from Steve Plumb, Flanny, Eddy, Jem & John. I also ventured up to The Renaissance where there were some great 80s tracks played. These other rooms offered something for everyone. Disappointed to see 2 or 3 folks playing off CDs and tablets, I can understand it in the Soulful house room but when you've paid your money and the majority are OV DJs it's a bit insulting but just my opinion. Also the equipment in The Gillows was poor, I felt for the DJs as the records were jumping and skipping due to the stage being so close to the floor. Other than that it was a great weekend! Hopefully the minor niggles can be rectified for the next one!

Keep up the great work all involved

an amazing venue custom made for a weekender, sound system in main hall was to quiet but that is about it , great weekend had by me and my group of friends and suprised by the hike in price. milking the golden cow? no early bird tickets this time so may try a different event next year but would be to bothered if we end up back there. lack of so called big djs didnt effect the rooms we stayed in as only was in main hall to see acts. spanish room was top notch but not rare soul in my understanding of it but still good music
