Tiffanys Newcastleunderlyme Revival All Dayer

In 1967 Colin Curtis signed to the Mecca Organization to DJ at the Thursday and Sunday Soul Nights with then Manager Ernie Shaw. The Sunday nights proved to be a huge success in The Bali Hai attracting full houses most weeks. Initially Colin Dj'd this room with John Murphy but later, Keith Minshull, Pep and Soul Sam were added to make up an extra ordinary team of DJ's. Sunday nights became really significant at Tiffany's on the Northern Soul Scene, as musically you could hear the best known sounds from the Blackpool Mecca, The Catacombs and Soul Sam's adventures all in one room!

Through this period the Mecca also booked great soul acts such as Jackie Wilson, Sam & Dave, Bobby Hebb, Arthur Conley and Major Lance etc, etc and the soul interest grew and grew.

Tiffany's then started to feature All Dayer's which brought in more outside Dj's as it made use of the main ballroom as well as the Bali Hai.

Tiffany's was also the venue where Colin hooked up with
a Mecca relief manager called Tom West. Tom had worked for a few weeks in Newcastle Under Lyme before returning to Blackpool and arranging with Bill Pye, Mecca Area Manager, to re-open the famous Blackpool Mecca Highland Room.
These Soul nights brought in Colin and Keith Minshull as Dj's and eventually Ian Levine . The rest, as they say, is history!!!

So this Tiffany's Revival event will be a musical reflection of those halcyon Tiffany's days with some of the stalwart Northern Soul Sounds of the time being featured, played by the original DJ's.

This was an important club for Colin in his early days as a DJ so it seems right that we honour this wonderful club and pay tribute to Colin's 50th year as a DJ. We do hope you will be able to join us for this memorable event.
