Friday 11th August sees the second event at our new, more intimate venue. We had some fantastic feedback following our first event in July and seem to have found in the Ukrainian Club a venue that is far better suited to a 'rare and underplayed' policy. Accommodating and considerate club members plus reasonable bar prices have also proven helpful!
We're continuing with the 'Quality First' policy that Brian Lester and Chris Churm insisted upon at our forerunner event that was held at The Dukinfield Masonic Hall as that is a policy that really does seem to have hit-the-spot.
The address is
The Ukrainian Club (Association of Ukrainians)
215 Stockport Road
If you insist solely (no pun intended) on the same Top 100 classics then this night probably isn't for you. But if you fancy a great mix of rare OVO oldies, and top drawer records that are a little bit different, and that you won't hear at your run-of-the mill soul nights, then the Ukrainian Club might be just your cup of tea. Not everything we play is ultra-rare (we aim for ultra-good), and you'll be able to add a few of our plays to your 'wants lists' and get them for reasonable prices (as I found out after augmenting my 'wants' following Mike Leicester's guest spot last time around - Mike played some really rare tunes but kindly put me onto a couple that are obtainable and for not too much money).
In addition to Chris Churm and myself we are planning a couple of extra special guests to entertain you on 11th August and I'll post these just as soon as I have confirmation that both can attend.
The venue is just across the road from the Shell petrol station, it’s just the right size with a capacity of around 80 and has a really nice separate chill-out/lounge area. The car park is only small, but there's plenty of parking on the residential streets behind the venue.
Doors open at 7:30pm and entrance is a quite reasonable (we think) £3.00.
