About The Event

Oh yes! From a tiny basement club with just a few friends of the residents who were djs, vinyl collectors and scooterists over 10 years weve moved a couple of times but are now at a great venue with a fantastic in house sound system,a good floor so do not bring talc and have regular attendees from all over the country. Most of which have become good friends and are as important as the music or venue in making it was it is and keeping it gogoing.
Weve always played original vinyl only but when we started there was more british beat and a bit of ska now it tends to be rnb, northern and funky edged soul, moulded by the dancers as much as the djs who have played.
We are pleased to announce our guest djs will be ANDY DYSON up there with the best of them for recent discoveries and resident at upfront nighters like lifeline and quality of soul this will be Andys first time down ay gogo 'BALD' MARK JOHNSON top rnb dj who has played all over the country and Europe too, EDDIE WAINRIGHT resident at empty bottles soul club in leeds who will be mixing up the rnb and big northern,MATT SNEATH resident at both burnley and bury allnighters and a fave at gogo mixing up rnb northern and funky stuff,GEORGE MAUHOOD a big 'crate digger' and the first funky edged dj to play gogo at our last venue over 6 years ago! SEAN HAYDON resident and promoter of soulfunktion and burnley allnighters another gogo fave who has finished our niters in fine funky style with some great northern too.JOHN STAPLETON and myself are your residents. We are changing it up a bit since the last two birthday line ups .We kept those the same but there are a few djs we want to get back and with a full calendar and our summer break its getting tougher and its all about trying to keep it fresh.

Adv tickets are available from Wanted Records in bristol or from myself and Nicci out and about at £12 and on line from the bristol ticket office or fiddlers which will have a  £1.50 booking fee, link below.THERE WILL BE PAY ON THE DOOR AT £14 so if you want to save a couple of quid get it sorted NOW!
We open at 9 and go through till 6am but please be in by 12! nicci wants to shut the doors and get out on the floor too!
Record sellers are welcome,we normally have a few so if you like flicking through boxes of old soul vinyl bring some cash! Which reminds me there's no cash machine in the club but i think they do now take card payments at the bar.
There is free parking on the street outside, ignore the double yellows you will not get a ticket. There will also be bag searches as people have brought in the own alcohol in the past! There will be bar snacks and rolls and there is a macdonalds 5 minutes walk away which opens at 6 for breakfasts.Temple meads train station is less than a mile away.
Hotels get fully booked early in bristol and are not cheap so get on it now if you need one, there are also lots of guest houses on coranation rd which is near the venue.
Thats it for now, hope you can make it the last one was a BANGER!

After 10 years sadly we have decided to stop doing the gogo children soul nights. We are hoping to be able to do 3 allnighters a year instead and are awaiting a decision from the owners of the club,if they are not up for it then this allnighter may be the blast gogo children!

With more competition in and around Bristol we seem to have as many travellers as locals over the last year and the soul night numbers have dropped and we are just breaking even despite being great nights. We would rather go out on a high than keep going and lose anymore people and with it the great atmosphere we have.

The allnighters are still getting 200 in so we thought just do the niters and maybe increase those numbers for those who wont come this far south for a 2AM finish

many thanks

Dear Dean, John and Nicci

Well done for all your efforts over the years and we hope you can keep going as long as possible. It is such a wonderful venue, sound system and different to so many nites we go to with a wide cross section of choonage! Go Go has been a great meeting place over all three venues for like minded souls, over the many years you have been going. Not to mention the work of Ian and 'My Friend Jack' (Sean) with the first two venues. You have opened our ears to many tunes over the years- thanks to all concerned and the many top guest dj's you've had play, long may it continue- keep on keeping on from Matt & Sarah xx

UPDATE... some of you would have seen on facebook that we are no longer doing the 2am finish gogo children soul nights. There is so much competition now every month both for travellers and the Bristol crowd, although all the nights have still been great fun and good atmospheres we are only just breaking even and are taking up a lot of in demand dates in a very indemand venue so we have decided to hopefully do 3 allnighters a year instead of two as the nighters still pull in 200+ to keep the owners happy we are waiting for the ownders to confirm

ALTHOUGH...

the building joined to the venue is an empty warerhouse which belongs to different people and they have applied for planning permission to build flats, this will obviously have a bad impact on the venue getting late licenses it could see the end of the venue completely which would be such a shame for Bristol as it is a great mid sized live venue bringing many great acts to the city. There is an on line petition objecting to the planning permission so its just a case of wait n see

below is a link to the petition would be really grateful if you could sign it

many thanks
