About us

The North Lancs Soul Festival is a celebration of Soul Music in all its genres and this year’s Festival will mark the 12^th staging of this Soul-packed weekend in the seaside resort of Morecambe in North Lancashire.

Held in Smokey O’Connors ‘Temple Of Soul’ this three roomed event features 30+ of the UK’s top national DJ’s who will be bringing you across the board Soul music from the cool choons of the 60’s through to hot modern soul vibes of the current day.   They’ll bring you Modern soul, Northern Soul, 70’s Crossover, Motown, Funk, Soulful House and Dance plus Contemporary releases all reflecting the diversity of the current UK Soul scene - and in our ‘Collectors Room’ we encourage our DJ’s to dig out some lesser played choons ‘from the back of their box’!

PLUS, we’ve got the legendary ARTHUR MILES (Trippin On Your Love / Helping Hand) performing LIVE over the weekend.

Friday

Daytime: The NLSF Welcome Party with across the board quality Soul music;

Evening: Club Classics, Disco, Crossover, Modern Soul, Northern, Soulful House;

Saturday

Daytime: Anthems Afternoon with classics, disco, jazz funk and dance floor favourites;

Evening: 70’s Crossover, Modern Soul, Motown, Jazz Funk, 60’s Soul & Northern, NuJazz & Soulful House;

Sunday

Daytime: Soul Cocktail Party with Contemporary releases, Classic Dance & floor-fillers to get you partying;

Evening: NLSF Farewell Party with ALL the BIG Choons.

Festival DJ’s

The North Lancs DJ Collective features an unmatched list of DJ’s and radio presenters with eclectic tastes from the rare vinyl from the glory days of the Twisted Wheel, Wigan Casino, Blackpool Mecca and the Golden Torch through the club and underground Soul scene of the 80’s and 90’s. We’ve done the Warehouse Parties and Rave scene as well as NuJazz, NuSoul and NuDisco - so you KNOW the music is going to be very tasty indeed.   Our DJ line-up is specifically put together to provide you with the best possible selection of musical styles and the following DJ’s are currently confirmed for NLSF 2018 with more to be added:

Limited Discounted Early Bird Weekend tickets are available NOW so don’t delay in guaranteeing your access to the whole event.  Three days, three rooms, 30+ DJ’s PLUS ARTHUR MILES for just £15.00.  Once the Early Birds are gone, weekend Passes will revert to full price of £20.00 and will be available on a first come-first served basis.

The Lower Temple

A fabulous relaxed lounge bar with superb sound & video system and a very lively dance floor, just perfect for the NLSF mix of daytime across the board Soul music and 60’s Soul, Motown & Northern at night.

The Central Temple

The home of our ‘Collectors Room’ where you’re likely to hear the lesser played 45’s and album tracks - perfect for dancing or just sitting and listening! Has its own bar and dance floor to make your enjoyment complete.

The Higher Temple

Morecambe’s ‘Modern Room’ where you’re as likely to find a 12incher as a 7incher! Soul music has evolved over the decades and this room celebrates this evolution from 70’s jazz funk through 80’s & 90’s Boogie, NuJazz, Soulful Dance to the NuSoul scene of today. BIG dancefloor, BIG sound system, BIG bar and a BIG BUZZ!
