About The Event
Nine years ago Gary Smith had an idea. The soul scene, it seemed, was becoming a little stale with many venues playing more and more of the same-old, same-old sounds on a proliferation of bootlegs. He collared a couple of us to start Darnall Horti' Soul Club. The remit was simple. Widen the choice, and play more rare and underplayed tunes, only on original vinyl, without trying to copy anyone else. Sheffield's number one rare and underplayed OVO soul night was born. It's not a 'modern' night, or a 'crossover' night or an 'oldies' night. It's a SOUL NIGHT. We don't even use the term 'Northern'. If this sounds like your thing, why not come along and give us a try?
For our 9th anniversary night we welcome special guest, Doncaster's very own, JOE LAKIN.
****** We have also decided to make this a charity event on behalf of the Jack Kitching Appeal. So, as with previous fund-raisers, we will donate every penny we make on the night to the appeal. All we ask of you is that you bring along anything you wish to donate to our raffle on the night. Your generosity is legendary, so we know you won't let us down. We will continue to run on the 3rd Friday of the month, from 8.00pm to 12.30am and entry is still only £3. Why not come along and enjoy great and knowledgeable company, excellent beers and a warm, friendly atmosphere.
