Situated in the stunning historic city of York The Clarence Beat Club also takes you back in time. To a time of smart 3 button Italian styled suits, mini dresses and skirts, button-down collars and handmade shoes, knitted ties, cufflinks, tie pins and pocket handkerchiefs. A time of 'bob' or 'back-combed' hairstyles. Continental modes of transport in the form of Vespa's or Lambretta's or the British iconic Mini. The music was new and anti-establishment: cool, finger clicking and hip shaking modern jazz, or hard-hitting, earthy R&B, or pounding soul stompers hailing from across the pond or the more relaxed vibe of the islands to the south with those rocksteady ska beats. This is what The Clarence Beat Club is all about.

Plus a great venue that welcomes you with open arms and creates that cool 60's vibe making you want to get up and shake ya thang. Cheap drink prices. Also, two NCP car parks are only 5 minutes walk from the venue and for non-York residents costs £2 to park all night after 6pm
.
There's plenty to see and do: historic attractions, award-winning restaurants, good value accommodation and quality retail shopping therapy. So why not make a proper weekend of it.

Ok, so coming up is the next Beat-cluB on April 7th, unfortuately due to double booking by our host we will not be holding this event at the Clarence Club, thats the bad news, the good news is that the Crescent Community Club have stepped into the rescue and have offered their services to us. We shall therefore be doing a one room event (Beat-cluB versus Bat Cave) in the Main room which as most people know has a large wooden dance floor. This will be a one off event as we will be moving back to the Clarence for our future events this year. DJ's on the night will be, dekka, Jason Chinnian, Stewart Richards, Peter Watkin and Neil Olive, entry fee £5, running times are 7pm till 12.30, cheers y'all and pass the word

Great to be back for a one off and support the young entrepreneurs who are running this independent music venue in York. "Spreading the love" so to speak ✊🏾

Talc friendly venue, usual etiquette will be strictly enforced, no dress code as for us it is all about the music

The talc friendly attitude makes a huge difference for me especially to my knees lol. It also shows venues willing to work with their clients for the greater good: staging soul events.

On the night I will always have talc available for those who forget to bring some. As is the case at The Clarence Club. Just ask.

Been asked what time the bar closes and bar closes at 12 o'clock and the event finishes at 12.30, however, I have known the bar to keep serving so long as people are drinking lol

Don't forget folk's this a one off due to being double booked at our usual venue and it will be taking place at the Crescent Community Venue, 8 The Crescent, York, YO24 1AW. It has a large wooden dance floor, plenty of seating, cheap real ales and oh, the best tunes around,

Only 10 minutes walk from the train station

There is a car park over the road plus an ncp about 5mins away. Also a cash point virtually next to the club with with a Sainsbury's and a KFC over the road. Couple of nice pubs within 5mins walk too.

C y'all there shortly.
