About The Event

So this could be the start of a new chapter for gogo children.

Fiddlers were no longer up for allnighters so we have moved to another popular  live venue. The Exchange on old market Street is next to the medieval pub the stag and hounds and is a bit smaller than fiddlers but has a wooden dancefloor and another great in house sound system. We will ofcourse have our projectors decorating the walls with 60s icons. It also has a bar area for record sellers and food and coffees will be served in the morning.

As it's a bit smaller we will be restricting entry to 150 and as we have sold 200 for every nighter so far this will be £12 ADV TICKET ONLY .Nicci as always will be on the door to take your tickets.

Our other bit of news is chris Stanley AKA Dr Pickles will now be a resident DJ alongside John Stapleton and myself.Chris has hardly missed a gogo since coming to the spring gardens seven or eight years ago and is always looking for new tunes to add to his brilliant playbox of rnb rare northern and funky edged soul.A great addition to the team.

The 5 guest djs are Mace, Geoff Rudd, Brian Phillips, Mark Sargeant and Simon Cottrell. Tickets are now available from myself and Nicci we will be at twisted grooves in june, the manchester soul weekend in july and soulfunktion in august. Also from wanted records in st nicholas market bristol and the bristol ticket shop on line.

The venue is less than 10mins from the cabot circus 24 hour car park and 10 mins walk from temple meads train station, there is also limited parking on old market and on the back streets around the venue

Hope you can make it,if it works we can have 3 or 4 next year

Dean

Reflections.... Top music..check! Open minded friendly people who wanted to dance...check! Fantastic sound system. ..check! Good dancefloor...check! Interesting yet slightly crazy people to chat with in between dancing...check! Friendly staff. ..check!

Firstly thanx to all those lovely open minded dancers who supported out first night at the exchange. Although we were quietly confident about this working I think I was strangely more anxious about this gogo gig than any other in nearly 11 years!
I needn't have been, our brilliant new resident Chris aka Dr Pickles not only played three great sets (never in doubt) but was there a good half an hour before us setting up the sound and moving tables and chairs, we just had to sort the door and projections and were up and running by 830 with people already arriving.
All the guest djs played as we'd hoped and expected top sets mixing up classics underplayed and WTF is this? tunes and through the night a good mix of rnb northern and funk..all on ovo ofcourse. So a big thanx to Simon Cottrell Mark Sargeant Andrew Mace Mason Brian Phillips and Geoff Rudd
I was a little bit concerned about the dancefloor as this is a very busy live venue and i knew it wasn't as good as fiddlers but after only a small amount of talc at the beginning it was fine and we didn't have any complaints.
I didn't have any concerns about the sound system and it sounded superb all night and the staff and doormen were all friendly and helpful even the parking didn't seem to be a problem so after some great feedback I think we can say we've found a new home.
So lastly thanx again to all those from north south east and even as west as Ireland! Your support and company are appreciated and enjoyed so much. We almost didn't bother after losing fiddlers but thanx to you lot I'm so glad we did. We are not sure about the numbers but we sold 144 of the adv 150 tickets but there were maybe a dozen of those who couldn't make it through work or illness (get well soon) the doorman turned away at least 15 non soulies as we had more than enough for a great atmosphere and we'd paid the bills.
So hope to see some of you again on Saturday February 2nd for our 11 birthday party 1f60a.png😊
