Soul Sessions At Dotties

‘Dotties’ is shown on the ‘street view’, albeit closed . The courtyard is behind the whitewashed walls , entrance through the large painted wooden doors . The bar /cafe/gelato parlour is on the ground floor of the two storey building to the right (upstairs is the venue for Saturday night ) . Elsewhere on the street view , the public car park can just be seen through the trees.

Gary Smith from ‘Sheffield Sunday Soul’, Darnall Horti' Soul Club and host of the fabulous Rifle Club sessions (Whitby Northern Soul Weekender ) will be joining us behind the decks for the Saturday afternoon courtyard session , 2pm- 6pm.

Chuffed to bits to be able to announce the Sat afternoon courtyard sessions will also have another of Sheffield’s finest behind the decks - Mark Etheridge (Hamburg Soul Weekenders , Bridlington Northern Soul Weekenders etc ). 

Our good friend Steve Crawshaw from Leeds will also be joining us on Saturday and Sunday . An excellent dancer who graces the floors virtually every weekend throughout Yorkshire and further afield and in between delivers well received dj spots . Steve was originally from York and his soul pedigree goes right back to the Heartbeat Club .

Dave Servi -Kilner (Manhattan & ‘Moving on a Groove’ - Harrogate) will also be joining us behind the decks on Saturday. 

In addition to the ‘Dotties’ Soul sessions there’s plenty happening elsewhere in Pickering with the 60s Festival . The ‘welcome to Pickering’ website has details. 

For those wishing to partake of the ‘lemonade’ rather than driving , there’s always the Coastliner (bus) option . Leeds -Tadcaster - York - Malton - Pickering - Whitby .

Been asked about accommodation. Airb&b might be a good choice . Just out of Pickering (towards Whitby) there’s the Fox and Rabbit pub , great food , b&b and campsite .  Otherwise there’s trivargo etc and the ‘welcometopickering’ website.

Being Pickering’s 60s festival , there’s probably more accommodation available  a few miles down the road in Malton, with its selection of hotels & Chapter 2 in the Market Place ...

Just to clarify , whilst the Sat and Sunday afternoon Soul sessions will have the decks set up in the court yard , with outside seating and sun shades , upstairs in Dotties will also be open. It’s vice versa for Saturday night - with the decks and event upstairs with the courtyard seating area also open .

Paul & Zoe of ‘Dotties’ are so supportive and for those who are interested in what constitutes quality Italian coffee and their genuine gelato (made to their families own, original 1930s Italian recipe) as opposed to ice cream, they are equally passionate  and more than happy to explain....one taste and you’ll be smitten . 

There’s also a selection of continental beers and lagers , ciders , spirits , soft drinks etc.

Massive thanks from Paul & Zoe at Dotties and myself to everyone who made the afternoon chillout session such a success especially the djs Gary , Mark , Steve & Dave . Superb tunes played - great atmosphere and busy . 

Looking forward to the evening Northern & Motown , then back to the afternoon chillout sessions tomorrow from 1pm. 

Just confirmed . ‘Dotties Soul Sessions #2 ‘ will take place Saturday 8th September and Sunday 9th September . Chillout sessions each afternoon in the courtyard . Saturday night , Northern & Motown , inside and upstairs . More info to follow and will be posted in ‘events’.
