About The Event

To co incide with the Pickering 6ts weekend both in Pickering Town Centre and on the North Yorkshire Moors steam Rly (which has its terminus in Pickering), there’s two days of Soul with Northern Soul & Motown and chill out sessions at ‘Dotties’, a fabulous licenced 5ts /6ts styled  Italian coffee bar /cafe /gelato parlour. ‘Dotties’  is situated right in the town centre , hidden away in a delightful mews location.

To be fair Dotties isn’t  large inside or out , by any stretch of the imagination or reality , but perfectly formed . Heaven in the sheltered courtyard , particularly during the summer months whist inside captures that 5ts/6ts age with the decor and decoration . Hence we believe ideal for the soul sessions certainly something rather different and appealing .....

For Sunday afternoon it’s a return to the delightful courtyard for the 2nd  chillout session of the weekend , which will run from 1pm-5pm

As with the Sat afternoon  chillout and evening Northern and Motown event, it’s free admission .

Dave Cervi-Kilner (Manhattan and ‘Moving on a Groove’ - Harrogate)

Pleased to announce that Blake Helliwell (& Nicki ) will be joining us on Sunday afternoon behind the decks .  Blake has an exquisite taste for soul music not least 7ts , x-over and Jamaican soul.  Many on here will of course know him and Nicki from the Yarmouth Soul Weekenders , Bilbao Soul Weekenders and of course Soul Provision & MK Soul - York .

The Harrogate crew will be joining us with Dave Cervi - Kilner (Manhattan & ‘Moving on a Groove’ - Harrogate ) behind the decks on Saturday and Sunday .

Steve Crawshaw from Leeds will also be joining us behind the decks for the Sunday afternoon chillout session.  An excellent dancer who graces the floors virtually every weekend throughout Yorkshire and further afield and in between delivers well received dj spots . Steve,  originally from York has soul pedigree going right back to the Heartbeat Club .

Dotties’ is shown on the ‘street view’, albeit closed . The courtyard is behind the whitewashed walls , entrance through the large painted wooden doors . The bar /cafe/gelato parlour is on the ground floor of the two storey building to the right (upstairs is the venue for Saturday night ) . Elsewhere on the street view , the public car park can just be seen through the trees.

In addition to the ‘Dotties’ Soul sessions there’s plenty happening elsewhere in Pickering with the 60s Festival . The ‘welcome to Pickering’ website has details. 

For those wishing to partake of the ‘lemonade’ 😂 rather than driving , there’s always the Coastliner (bus) option . Leeds -Tadcaster - York - Malton - Pickering - Whitby.

Following the yesterday’s success of the chillout , then evening Northern & Motown Sessions  it’s back for a afternoon courtyard chillout session today - starting at 1pm .

Quick update ....

We’ll be now leaving the decks upstairs for this afternoons event which is in the courtyard below with speakers positioned for that soulful vibe . That way we’ll be playing vinyl via the balcony avoiding the direct sun, temperatures and possibility of styrene, in particular,  warping 😎
