You said it was a "class sound".... I just felt it wasn't.  Sorry. No offence intended. I genuinely wish you a successful event.

Ok I'll start off nicely, myself and four friends drove a considerable distance to this event, based purely on the description on Soul Source. Upon arriving at said venue we were met by a very old and impressive building however, the niceties stop here.

HOT HOT HOT was the listing, more like cold cold cold!

You can't have an all nighter at a venue with a dance floor that has the capacity to hold a maximum of 30 people!

We paid the £8 per person entry fee and proceeded into the main (and only) room which was so badly lit I struggled to even see the 'dancefloor' which had obviously not seen a floor polisher in its lifetime based on the sorry state of it.

Disappointed with the false advertising of an event we had all looked forward to we walked straight back out to get a refund, after some debate we got the money and left. 

The photograph showing the dance floor was an 'Estate Agents Dream', one that clearly shows something much larger than it is in real life, in all honesty I would estimate the ridiculous 'L' shaped dance floor size to be all of 30' x 15' max.

OR SIMPLY BY TAKING A  PHOTOGRAPH LYING AS CLOSE TO THE FLOOR ON THE FURTHEST END OF THE DANCE FLOOR USING A SUPER WIDE ANGLE LENS.

However, here at Our Time is Now we have a tendency to focus on 'where music matters NOT who plays it'

AND WE DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE DANCE FLOOR CONDITION NOR SIZE OF IT, ESPECIALLY WHEN DOING AN ALL NIGHTER. THE COUPLE OF TRACKS I HEARD WERE NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY, ALAS WE DID NOT STAY LONG ENOUGH TO COMMENT HONESTLY.

but please don't hold that against us.....we CAN put forward a 'line up' that is impressive...in fact it can be described as PROPPA in terms of a 'line up'

So kind of in the words of "Arnie": We Won't Be Back!!!

Worst event i have attended in my 14 months into the Northern Soul Scene, my pals having 40+ years each into the scene said likewise.

Falcons . To many to list . Agree floor was small . Then so was Twisted Wheel .

Music was stunning . 

So you cant make judgement on what was played . You chose to leave .

Agree totally with Howie except for the music l stayed until nearly the end, traveled 280 mls rnd trip.....thought the music policy was the best ive heard this year.......Needs an upgrade to another venue, the dance floor was bad and covered in talc because there was no give.....Im coming up 67 and that dance floor nearly finished me off  lol.....As good as the music was that floor was the worse ive been on for a long long time......Music policy is like a breath of fresh air along side the oldies All Nighters imo......just needs a venue fitting the music !!!!!.....

i never got that far as the venue was crap and the floor the worse ever, lol.

i think i already stated that as my above quote clearly shows, yes i chose to leave to a better place i had given up on to attend this farcical event, however i did in fact return to the original better place for as per usual, a great night.

Not all Venues have Ballroom floors .

Was a great places to DJ . My feet and knees are done in today . Though not done a Nighter for 14 Month and more . Due to a neurological disorder.  Was blessed with sheer quality provided . Its moving to upstairs . Much larger room . 

We have different logistical problems at Accrington Town Hall. Due to sheer size of the Ballroom  . We overcame those . Learnt from others mistakes . Best Nighter musically been to in Years .

Well I absolutely loved it and heard some great music form the DJ's.  I never heard a bad track all night, but then why would I, with a fabulous line-up.  The diversity was superb and plenty of new tunes to listen too and only the occasional classic to balance the sets. This was in my humble opinion a refreshing change from the usual hum drum blues with DJ's willing to play something different and having the backing of the promoters to do so. Would I go again, YES. If it the classics you want then this is not for you.  I actually thought the venue was the right size for the expected number of people.  At the end of the day each to their own, I always like to see the good in all.  promoters still work very hard to find venues and put events on, not a easy task and at times lose money.  They don't always get it right and learn from the process to try get it right the next time. This was the first event and i am sure lessons will have been learned and implemented for the next one.  This is not the norm event as it does offer something different. Keep it up and well done guys.
