THIS SATURDAY 16th February - SO SOULFUL 70's at The RAF Club, Golden Hill Lane, Leyland, PR25 3NN

Couple of things to mention - It's the 65th birthday of one of our regular patrons, the young fella known as Kev Dempsey. Kev & Olwyn have been attending since day one and they are proud to announce that their grand-daughter Isabella (who has been a regular dancer as SS70's) is going to be playing a few tunes for us in the first hour on Saturday. The bad news is that one of our Guest DJ's Dave Griffiths (Griff) cannot make it on Saturday as he's not feeling too good at the moment, so we wish him all the very best and will look forward to having him back as a guest DJ later in the year. Dave has once again made the free CD and as usual, it's another goodie. All that means is that myself, Eddy Edmondsonn & Barry Maleedy will have to work even harder on Saturday. Barry will be doing a 'back of the box' early doors set along with what will undoubtedly be a stellar main set later on.

I am also very excited to be premiering the new Diggin' Deep 45 by Sir Ted Ford (due out next week) and it's an absolute unreleased killer Crossover Gem plus the forthcoming soul4real 45 by Jimmy Gresham which is a lovely unreleased Southern Soul mover (due out in March) (more of that later in a separate post I reckon)

We hope you can join us for what is looking like a superb night of So Soulful 70's
Cheers
Steve

Well that was a bit good wasn't it? Fantastic night with a great crowd, great music, great sound system and great DJ's. By 8.30pm we were already virtually full with the free CD's all gone. Early doors sets from Isabella Riding Tsop Manchester (Barry Maleady) Steve Plumb & Eddy Edmondson set the tone for the evening before Barry returned to do a killer main set, whilst Steve & Eddy sent everyone home happy. The music was great and the dance floor was busy all night. There were lots of first time spins at So Soulful 70's (rare & cheap, old & new) including tracks from The Ballads, Chicago Gangsters, Aretha Franklin, The Dramatics, a Maleady cover-up, the new soul4real 45 (thanks Alex Subinas) from Jimmy Gresham and of course the much talked about new Diggin' Deep 45 (thanks Sean Hampsey) from Sir Ted Ford which was played twice (early and late sets) and was very well received. We sang 'Happy 65th Birthday' to Kev Dempsey at Midnight and Marvin sent everyone home happy. Brilliant night, thanks to everyone who supported us and here's to the 8th Anniversary on the 11th May x
