Journey was an easy and uneventful 3 hour trawl up the A1/M62/M66 with the venue kinda unmissable as you get into Bury itself . Main objectives of the night were a major catching up session with umpteen faces from years back and meeting some new folk without the computer in the way , and of course some shedding of shoe leather on the Kenwood Suite floor ... Was good to say hello in person to both Steve and Karl ( Winsford Soul and Chalky ), pretty sure we've been in the same dark room on inummerable occasions in the past but never actually spoke before . Catching with people twenty years down the road can be tricky sometimes but not on this occasion , it was as if we'd last met a month ago , Len , Robbo , Bob Hinsley , Pete Hollander all untainted by time ... and last but by no means least there was my old mate Shifty , exactly the same old Alan that I recall from the 100 Club way back when ... and thankfully they were all in the little room together which made it the happiest smiliest place to be without doubt. Didn't take long to be enticed out onto the floor by the lovely Robbo and the likes of Shifty/Simon , Bob H and Mick all kept me moving for hours before Lenny and Chalky both opened my ears to loads of great new (to me) tracks that I will be listening out for again for sure ... especially that big booming Derek Martin acetate that Chalky spun in the last hour ... Couldn't tell you what was occuring in the main room , I only passed through on my way to the bar before heading back upstairs again. Journey home was as uneventful as the trip up albeit the M62 was empty all the way back to the A1 which was a pleasant surprise. All in all it was mission accomplished , now roll on next Saturday for the next adventure in my 'local' , the venerable basement that is the 100 Club ... P.S. Only gave it four stars as I only saw the little room . 7 Link to review

For that I will be forever grateful. Saturday night although down on numbers was musically one of the best that's been. Hats off to the DJ,s in both rooms for playing soul records without boundaries and not the although good but massively played out same ones. Nice to finally get chance to meet and put a face to another fellow soul source member. ( woodbutcher) Steve. You looked like you enjoyed your self. Hope you had a safe journey home. Great music in the main room as well me and Simon were nodding along to every selection but weren't sure who the DJ was, thanks to Marcelle for the info Ian James played a blinder, a very unassuming guy with a great collection.Caught the early part of Matt Sneath's set, high quality as you would expect!! Looking forward to more of the same on Boxing Day!! 4 Link to review
