The first guest DJ we have at our 11 birthday was the first guest DJ we ever had play for us back on our first birthday a decade ago! A DJ who's played all our previous venues so it seems right that Sean Chapman should get behind the decks at our new home.
Seans never been afraid of digging deep into his collection and trying new things whether that be at the biggest northern oldies events or on the mod circuit at nights such as his own constantly sold out event 'out of time'
One of the hardest working and we'll respected DJS out there it's taken us a couple of years to get him back and is just so right it should be a decade after he first filled our dancefloor 😊

The other four guest djs joining us will all be playing gogo for the first time. Our next dj was the first to confirm after attending our last allnighter back in September. Paul Grant will be coming over from Ireland where he is resident for the pow city soul club. A well respected dj who's already played all over the uk and Europe including the last manchester and hamburg weekenders, so very pleased to get him over to gogo, expect a mix of quality soul whether it be rnb northern or funky edged he's gonna smash it!

I first heard our third guest dj play at an allnighter the night they filmed 'that' shredded wheat commercial a few years back and can remember being impressed with not just his tunes but his passion and confidence behind the decks and he was still a teenager. Fast forward a few years and Jordan Wilson through that passion and hard work has now played at some of the biggest events both in the uk and Europe, and has got a playbox better than some twice his age and is promoter  of his own allnighter in Wigan where there are ques to get in. Although largely known for oldies Jordan has been playing alternative rooms too of late where I caught him at Worcester recently playing a great set of uptempo soul that was largely new to me so really looking forward to his debut spot at gogo... bring on the future.

We tried to get our 4th guest dj to play September's allnighter but as we were late confirming it was going to happen he was already busy so very pleased to get him to our birthday shindig instead.
I heard Neil Taylor play at the 'lets dance some mo' Chester alldayer recently where he played a brilliant set of uptempo dancers, rnb, northern funk,  classics current and some I didn't know, perfect for us. He's also playing the xmas twisted grooves party in Dec at the nags head in manchester where hes also played for different strokes in the past so about time we had him in bristol for his debut at gogo, yet another beltin set guaranteed 😊

60s Rnb has always been a big part of gogo children. From the days when people incorrectly thought that's all we played to now when some say we don't play enough!  Whatever your opinions on that we always try to get one RnB specialist to guest dj. Following on from Mace last time we have for our fifth and final guest dj another resident from the uk premier rnb/mod event 'Pow Wow' in Sheffield Mr Gav Arno. Aswell as the UK Gav has played at all the major European rnb/mod events. This is gonna be educational aswell as entertaining!  Can't wait

NEWSFLASH! Sadly Neil can't make it saturday 😐 gutted as I was really looking forward to what he might spin for us, hopefully he will be down in the summer instead BUT we've managed to get the perfect  replacement.
Another quality dj who mixes up the rnb, soul and funky stuff.Another dj who we've been trying to get to gogo again as the last time he played was nearly 4 years ago. Another Pow Wow resident!  We have  Mr callum Simpson bringing his playbox for us. 😊

Snowing! We had about 5 inches last night but all the main roads are clear, got into work this morning no problem

Supposed to be sunny and bright all day tomorrow and Sunday so should be ok

We will still be on! 😊

Well that was pretty good! After the heavens dropped 5 inches of snow on Bristol Thursday night and then it kept snowing Friday morning with it splashed all over the news we were a tad worried and i had visions of us walking around the club on our own! However the thaw started Friday afternoon and Saturday was nuffin but blue skies! It did sadly keep a few away but although icy we had travellers via train plane and automobile from all four corners of the country. Ireland, north west, north east, Essex, London,Wiltshire, somerset, south wales, the midlands and of course most of Bristol regulars so thank you to all of you and apologies to any ive missed out.
Saturday my phone didn't stop with people after tickets or with people who couldn't make it trying to sell theirs, we sold out of our 150 tickets by late afternoon but tbh im not sure how many were in it seemed busier than the last one which maybe due to more 'smokers' staying in out of the cold.
The night seemed to go so fast which i suppose is a good sign, one guest dj after the next played great sets as wed hoped mixing up the styles and throwing in a few surprises and plenty of things i hadn't heard before. RnB, Northern, Funk and even a few 70s things. Definitely not the same old which gives each gogo a slightly different feel.So MASSIVE thanks to Jordan Wilson Sean Chapman Gav ArnoCallum Simpson Paul Grant and of course my fellow residents Chris Stanley and John Stapleton. Also a big thanks to Nicci Jean for doing a great job keeping the door flowing and managing to take some great pics too.
The sound system was great all night, crystal clear and the bass on the intro of sam dees 'lonely for you' actually vibrated a couple of drinks off of them! sorry if they were yours.
The dancefloor wasn't at its best, probably down to an indie night and a live band the night before sadly so will look into what we can do about that but we still had the floor busy all night and ive dance on worse.
So all in all a top birthday party, lastly apologies if i didnt manage to chat to anyone or ran off half way through conversations i had one eye on the door, one on the dancefloor and an ear continually on the djs so as not to play any repeats and tbh i dont think i heard one all night, if there were there wasnt many.
The next gogo isn't until august 10th so stick it in your diaries and make sure you get a ticket early! at least there wont be any snow to worry about!
