Ukrainian Club Ashton Under Lyne

Friday 12th April 2019 sees the next event at the Ukrainian Club in Ashton-Under-Lyne.  For those of you that are eagle-eyed this event falls on the 2nd Friday in April rather than our more usual 3rd Friday.

If you fancy hearing great records along with something a little bit different, and if you want a proper ‘soul’ night (as opposed to just a ‘social’ night with the music policy that tends to accompany such events) then the Ukrainian Club could be the venue for you.

Staying true to Brian Lester and Chris Churm’s original goals, and now in our third year, the focus remains on rarer and underplayed records.  There will be records you know and love along with the rare, less frequently played oldies (all on original vinyl…no boots here) but we’re really hoping that there will be a number of tracks on any given evening that will be new to you and that you’ll enjoy. 

The aims are simple:

1)    Play you an evening of great soul records

2)    Select these records with the emphasis on quality

3)    Play original vinyl only

4)    Bring you quality guest DJs

We hope that the aforementioned aims will combine to give you a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

The venue itself seems ideally suited to host a rarer event.  It has a nicely-sized room with great dancefloor and a separate chill-out/lounge area.  The combination of venue, music policy and of two hand-picked guests per event seems to be proving popular.

Either Brian, Chris or I will confirm the names of our guest DJs a little closer to the time.

The venue is just across the road from the Shell petrol station and whilst the car park is only small there's plenty of parking on the residential streets behind the venue.

Doors open at 7:30pm and entrance is a quite reasonable (we think) £4.00.

For 2019 the event finishes at half past midnight.
