So actually it gave me the excuse to come here - always mean to but it usually clashes with something else and as it's a bit further for me to travel I never really fancy it. There had also been snow on Friday and I had memories of working in Stafford last winter and nearly getting stuck in the snow. Anyway I'm glad I made it - fantastic little club, top notch DJ's and Ted Massey (who I really seem to be following round - not intentionally at all), great crowd, all the usual stuff. It's not massive, the room and the dancefloor were packed but the atmosphere was brilliant. All ages crowd too which always helps to lift the vibe of a place. Some great dancers - a particular highlight (probably of the year!) was Mick Oakden's play of 'He's On Time'; holy crap it was amazing! Not too many dancing to it but had to be seen to be believed. I'm still drawing on grey paper - I also developed a "new" (for me anyway) painting technique for the long landscape one - Ted Massey played 'Tainted Love' and I found that splashing the waterbrush in time with where the handclaps go, gave an interesting blur to the figures and splash of paint. Quite interesting, I need to paint along to other songs with handclaps in! Did a DJ one in grey as well, not as easy. I rarely give 5 stars - I've noticed most reviews are by the promoters of the events who inevitably give 5 stars to everything. I am trying to be objective. Response from the promoter: Many thanks for you kind words, we really make an effort to make the night friendly, with totally across the board soul music played. Many thanks. KTF 1 Link to review
