Was feeling awful this week with a horrible cold, which is still hanging on and had no energy for a couple of weeks. But had to go to Nottingham on Saturday (weirdly when I was in Nottingham I went into a secondhand record shop and found a Mojo flyer from last year wedged between two LP's) so, feeling a tad better, I managed to drag myself here - mainly on the recommendation of seeing Nev Shooter who I'd heard really good things about. Missed Moldie's set which was a shame but caught the rest and ended up staying to the end which was quite amazing because I felt like crap and really intended to come for a couple of hours and go home to bed - the healing power of Soul no doubt 😉.

Facilities to the usual high standard, nice crowd etc. If you haven't been here - do yourself a favour and give it a try, really one of the best in the West Midlands, never a disappointment.

Didn't even feel like drawing but did sketch the two guest DJ's, I got a seat right at the front which was a great view but the light was a bit weird and their faces looked very red so that's the way these turned out. They also look a bit flat but that was the way I was feeling so may explain it!

I rarely give 5 stars - I've noticed most reviews are by the promoters of the events who inevitably give 5 stars to everything. I am trying to be objective.

Undoubtedly the dj line up was first rate, the music was first rate too. However, the evening seemed to be missing that spark which turns a good evening into a great evening. Maybe it was due to the event being slightly less busy than on previous occasions or maybe a little too much was expected from so many top grade dj's?

Moldie, on first and on a hiding to nothing played as good a set as I have heard anywhere of late.... Not sure why he is always on first?

Response from the promoter:

Hi Tim

There was approximately 40 more people then the previous month and it showed from the photographs taken and posted on FB Sunday also had some great reviews posted from people that attended on the 23rd Feb 2019.

However your comments and brilliant sketches are always appreciated

Kind Regards

John
