BANBURY SOUL CLUB NEXT EVENT OF 2019
Saturday 7th September 2019 - 8pm to 1am
Banbury United Football Club
Station Approach
Banbury
Oxfordshire
OX16 5AB
Sincere thanks to all who attended our last event in our new venue.
It was another successful evening and well attended.
As a special thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last 16 years we have two exceptional guest DJ’s for our September event.
We have managed to obtain the services of one of the top UK DJ’s, collectors and record dealer.
None other than John Manship has kindly agreed to come and help us celebrate this evening.
John should need no introduction.
An acknowledged world expert on Rare Soul and a collection that can provide classic oldies to rare one offs.
John will be entertaining the dance floor with some quality tunes during the night.
With his extensive knowledge and experience behind the decks this will be an extraordinary night.
Our other guest DJ is Alan Paterson.
Alan DJ’d for us a few years ago and we had a lot of feedback asking him to DJ again in the future.
As the customer is always right how could we refuse?
Alan is well known north of the border where he DJ’s at “Groovin on The Green” in Aberdeen.
He is well established in Scotland with an excellent soul collection.
Alan will definitely add his own superb quality sounds to what will be an excellent night of Soul music.
Both our guests have happily agreed to do two one hour sets.
One hour each in the main room which is traditional Northern Soul, quality oldies and classic Motown.
Their other sets will be in the “No Boundaries” room.
They have free reign to plays exactly what they want as “No Boundaries” does exactly what it says on the tin.
Nick “Topsey” Turvey will be curating this alternative room.
Nick has complete freedom to play exactly what he wants and invite any guest DJ’s who will enhance that room.
It will feature modern, crossover, low rider, soulful house and jazz funk. Basically if it is soulful it will be played.
The exception is there will be NO Northern or Motown.
So if you prefer those genres of soul this is the room for you.
So expect a smörgåsbord of quality soul across all genres.
I’m sure you will agree this is going to be a brilliant night of soul music in both rooms, with something to satisfy all soul lovers.
In summary this will genuinely be a “something for everyone” evening.
So make sure you come along and enjoy a superb soulful night’s entertainment for only £5.
Two rooms of soul, 10 hours of music for only £5 has to be a bargain.
Anyway we all hope to see you all on Saturday 7Th September 2019 - 8pm to 1am.
Some people were still having difficulties finding The Banbury United Clubhouse location.
Unfortunately SatNavs will only get you part of the way.
The only access to the club is by way of the Station Approach road.
After turning into Station Approach the main railway station, train drop off point and taxi rank is immediately on the left.
You need to take the narrow roadway on the extreme right to find the Clubhouse and follow this road all the way to the ground.
The clubhouse is approx. 0.5 miles down this road.
Turn right into the Clubhouse car park which is well lit.
If you do get lost the taxi drivers are usually very helpful and will point you in the right direction.
We will also put up more prominent signage showing the direction you need to go.
For those who have not been to the venue before the Banbury United Clubhouse has recently been refurbished, along with the free car park immediately outside the clubhouse.
With a raised stage, main wooden dancefloor with seating and tables on both sides.
The music emphasis as usual is based on quality and enjoyment.
Charlie, Steve and Tom and the resident DJ’s will be playing their own selections of danceable soul music to guarantee a superb night.
Expect to hear sounds from the last 50 years covering all genres, tempos and styles.
Also this is a talc friendly event.
So if you feel the need to use some talc on the floor then that’s not a problem.
But please use common sense when “dusting” the floor.
Admission is just £5.
