The first one of 2019 and this time a pre Scooter Rally Season event. Busy early doors. Packed by 8, rammed by 9pm and still busy past the mid nite hour .... Certainly struck a chord with an up for it crowd enjoying a heady mix of vintage ska, 6ts rnb, Scooterist sounds and Northern classics. Always enjoy Tyneside’s Deka’s sets (didn’t Betty Everett ‘I’ve got a claim on you’ sound so good) and host Brian Cardno instinctively knows the punters expectations with his plays. First time I’ve heard Michael Elliott who has an extraordinary knowledge and collection of rarer Jamaican 45s, finishing with this one to an ecstatic dance floor. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6CvzrsY5Bjc Great nite - big thanks to Brian for the invite and everyone for responding on the dance floor and personal feedback, not least the thumbs up for The Big Six ‘coming home, baby’ and Marvelettes acetate ‘it’s too late (to start all over)’. So one for the diary at England’s most northerly venue. The next ‘Soul on the Tweed’ is Saturday 16th March with Northern plus 70's and modern for a change. 1 Link to review
