About The Event

THIS FRIDAY we welcome you to the ANNIVERSARY event of the SPIRIT of LOWTON on FRIDAY 8th FEBRUARY. The event takes place at CULCHETH SPORTS CLUB, CHARNOCK ROAD, CULCHETH Nr WARRINGTON.

With this iconic venue now no longer with us, we have strived to find a replacement venue and are pleased to announce we have found it in the brilliant Culcheth Sports Club which is almost a replica of the much loved 'hallowed hall' of LOWTON CIVIC. As in the true 'Spirit of Lowton',  this event celebrates bringing the best 60’s and 70’s Northern Soul, Modern Soul and a smattering of R&B over a 22 year period to soul fans from all over the North West, North Wales, Yorkshire and beyond.

Bob Hinsley and Simon Ingham, along, with original Lowton DJ's Kev Murphy, Baz Maleady, celebrate the night, joined by special guests, Manchester's Carl and Maria Willingham in the main room, and in the Modern Room Lancashire's "Soul on the Edge' team along with popular 'Modern Soul' DJ, Chris BOX. Why not, make a date in your diary and join us for this special event.

Relative 'New Kid on the Block' but with a love and passion for the scene and the music, Simon Ingham has been part of the LOWTON fabric for many years and continues that by gracing the 'Wheels of Steel' at Culcheth This FRIDAY.

Here's Simon's featured tunes for FRIDAY

Gigi and the Charmaines Guilty

Incredibles Miss Treatment

The Sharpees Take Me To Your Leader

Jackie Beavers Love That Never Grows Old

Great record featured by Carl and Maria and Bob Hinsley at Culcheth, so most likely you'll get a 'chance to dance' to this superb piece of Northern Soul

So, looking at the feedback from various sources it's looking positive for tonight's proceedings...

Just in case you'd forgotten roughly where Lowton/Culcheth is here's a reminder 😉

First of all, a heartfelt, THANK YOU to everyone who came to the 'Spirit of Lowton' Anniversary at Culcheth last night, Thank You, because of a number of reasons. Firstly, a selfish one, I enjoyed it, and I like to be at nights I enjoy, secondly, it was great to see and be told many other people were enjoying it but mostly because I thought the music last night in both rooms was, truly in the the 'Spirit' of a venue, sadly lost and much missed, Lowton Civic Hall. Last night spurred me on to continue to promote the opportunity for like minded soul fans to come and listen and dance to the wonderful music we love...I hope you will continue to come along and if you've not been for a while or never been to Lowton or Culcheth you would be very welcome. Just in case you didn't know we are now Bi Monthly so, see you in April...
