Large, sprung dance floor. The floor design is based on a network of woven wood and is described as being one of only two floors of its type. The other is at Blackpool Tower Ballroom.

The house sound system was designed and built by K-Array, an Italian high end audio solutions outfit. Tops are Dragon KX12's and bass is handled by Thunder KM18p's. Total power output is 3.6 KW. An extra 4.2KW at the other end of the Ballroom provides an even volume. Powerful and inspirational on the dance floor but quiet enough to have a conversation at your table.

Access to Balcony.

Bar behind the stage.

Strictly no talc!

Many venues don't have the luxury of a dedicated sound engineer. Audio Hooligan looks after K & D Soul Club in Radcliffe, Blackburn Oldies and Accrington Soul Club. Each of these clubs have a sound system custom built for their venue. The three clubs share ideas and resources.

Though my friends inform me I could send a glass eye to sleep when I get started explaining why our sound is so good, I still feel compelled to talk about the really exciting technical details.

Stop reading here if you don't care about how it works. Alternatively, make some cocoa and prepare for a snooze.

Accrington Soul Club 1st event - House system - 4 amps, 4 speakers. Total 3.8kw.

2nd event - House system + loaned pair of bi-amped Yamaha dsr12 (1kw RMS each), + Yamaha dsx18 sub (1.3kw). Total 7.1kw. Thanks Blackburn Oldies.

3rd event - House system + pair of bi-amped Yamaha dzr12 (1.3kw RMS each) + pair Yamaha dxs18 subs. Total power 9kw. Total transportation gross weight 1/4 Tonne.

The subs were running in Cardioid Array mode which allows me to change the bass sonic characteristics from omnidirectional to very directional. The bass was absolutely thunderous at the back of the room. My natural exuberance incited me to see what it could do before I hit bass hum feedback. I had them running at full chat for the first hour when the mixer was at #6 but adjusted them down to half power when we were at full concert volume. It was too much bass, even for me.

I was quite pleased with the overall performance of our new system but it's all new and needs some settling in. Some work to do on the mic clarity, further options including bass boost and bass extend to explore.

I'm currently controlling 8 speakers and 10 amplifiers through two mixers. It's a handful, but I'm in my element in this ornate barn of a venue and loving every minute of pushing the boundaries of what is actually possible to provide you with the absolute best sound I can muster.

Powerful and inspirational on the dancefloor but quiet enough to have a conversation at your table is my mantra. Come and have a listen.

I hope you like listening to my work as much as I enjoy doing it.

Well, I certainly enjoyed the excellent sound in the sets i`ve played there over the 3 nights. And you can also take a great photo, anyone who can make me look cool wearing earphones is OK in my book Dan.
