Always an evening to look forward to, renew acquaintances with our friends in Lancs and the regular attendees.

Great sound system put in by Baz Maleedy and that wonderful dancefloor that simply is one of the very best in the UK..plus a great range of tunes.

We do hope that many of you can make it...and make it a night to remember, don't forget it's a discounted admission if you present a flyer stub at the door on the night..or you can order in advance via ticketline.

Click on the link to view the magnificent dancefloor!.

The room dimensions are such that back in the day, at the height of the functions popularity, as many as 400 people would fill the floor.

Besides which, there is plenty of seating, but be early to guarantee it!.

T.S.O.P. was subject to a visit from Stuart Maconnie from BBC Radio 2 who presented a live outside broadcast, direct from a prearranged All Niter, featuring the original Wigan Casino Djs, Richard Searling, Kev Robert's and Russ Winstanley.

That occasion lives long in the memories of people who were there.

The venue was the Brainchild of Lynne & Terry Davies, and was instantly successful, so much so that, the inevitable " lock out " happened on many an occasion.

The pair were revolutionary at the time when most other venues were reliant on resident djs and guests were limited, they baulked against this approach and made it open house, which meant at least 5 guest djs in the main Ballroom and 3 or 4 in the modern room....everyone was given a chance, there wasnt a defined rota either.

The modern room was possibly the best in the U.K. with practically all the big names appearing there.

Even djs from Europe and Australia were given a spotlight.

I hope this little insight better prepares you if you're not sure what to expect.Ginger, along with Torch and Mecca supremo, Colin Curtis, bring their knowledge and expertise to bear.

Pete Robert also showcases his ever popular Twisted Wheel Function with the groundbreaking music it was responsible for.

Add to that the immense talent, and thought provoking playlists of one of the North Wests finest, BARRY MALEEDY, and it can be said that the musical output is nothing short of comprehensive!.

I'll chuck in a few favorites as well to warm things up, plus continuing the theme of dedication to my hero's, Richard Searling and the Late, John Anderson of Soul Bowl fame.

The feedback already, is tremendous as we enter our 6th annual tribute event.

We certainly hope you will come in expectation, and go away with great memories...what we've always done before, we promise sincerely, to do again.

Make you enjoy T.S.O.P.

Love it.

That's definitely the promotion of the year,  Manship has met his match.🤣

No half measures here!😂😂 I dont really need to as the venue sells itself, always did. Of course the soulcial calendar is such that the type of attendance we had back then, is pretty much in obtainable, just depends on the mood of people and what takes their fancy...but this gig is a hard-to-beat one, any day of the week.

The line up speaks for itself, steeped in history and experience, with promoters/co-promoters all. I helped Barry Run this venue for almost 4 years after Lynne and Terry retired...after that we ran Lowton Civic Hall for 7 years after the initial relaunch. I also helped Barry Launch The spirit nights at Culcheth 3 years ago and that is going from strength to strength.

So a whole wealth of involvement, particularly at this venue.

The music will be second to none, made for a floor of this nature, combined it's a dream come true!.

Our Sound Engineer/technician/equipment supplier/Promoter/dj extraordinaire!!....A man of many talents and a very dear and close friend.

Amongst other things he's come through a personal trial that would challenge anyone's faith and he's fighting fit...and loving life along with his wife, Sue.

Barry Maleedy or tsop Manchester on fb, has a fabulous ear for classy tunes, be it northern or modern, he's supremely comfortable in both rooms at any venue that supports this philosophy.

As a promoter, he's very dedicated, alongside him I helped to promote the longevity of TSOP, after Lynn and Terry Davies retired.

From there, we spent 7 years seeing Lowton Civic Hall have a renaissance which Culminated in a 21st anniversary celebration.

Barry, now runs the extremely successful Culcheth soul nights, following on the great traditions of our previous exploits.

You can rest assured, the sound check for this evening will be precise to compliment the backdrop of a wonderful venue!.

And Barry's selection of tunes will be nothing short of brilliant, no nonsense, on the 4s dancers....get ready to hear something distinctly different!😉👍

If theres one surprise that hasn't happened...its that THIS guy hasn't wrote his autobiography...but perhaps that's too daunting a prospect, as he would have to live another lifetime to complete this epic work, such is his history...his enthusiasm is unquestionable, inexhaustible, ever challenging.

Whatever heights people aspire to on this scene, Colin Dimmond has surpassed, long since.

From the Torch to Blackpool Mecca, and beyond, he's encompassed all the venues of note and the diversity of his musical knowledge knows no bounds, that translates into his many varied sets as he exposes the listeners, enthusiasts to black music of every soulful nature.

His presence adds to attendances wherever he goes, he has that gift of getting peoples attention and filling a floor from the get go.

This evening, expect a tour de force of Mecca classics from that magical decade of the 70's, that began in ernest, at the highland room, CentralDrive, with 60's stoppers...and by the time the dust had settled, had morphed into jazz Funk classics, with that wonderful crossover sound in between.

The Wizard promises to cast a spell or two...😉👍

The Powerhouse of the Twisted Wheel, prominent before the Casino or Mecca, a watchword for all that is 60's from attire to tunes, the latter dictating nothing released later than 1971 played, such is the legend and tradition.

Pete Robert's, took on the mantle of such a prestigious name, reigniting peoples enthusiasm for it originality at the beginning of the noughties.

Sadly, the second entity in Whitworth st west ( and the longest running one ) closed its doors some 6 years ago now.

Since then, the club name and tradition has found its home on Princes st, Manchester and gone from strength to strength.

Pete is a great lad, dedicated to upholding the love for this club, he shows that personally as well.

Theres isnt a dj worth his salt who dosnt want to get on the much vaunted guest list...its probably the first one that's fully booked up for the next year before other promoters have even thought about it!!😁

Pete will undoubtedly treat us to his angle on what's hot and hip and distinctly 60's, when he hits the wheels of steel...at TSOP😉👍

On a personal scale of friendship from 1 to 10

I dont have to say, because my love for this man and my absolute respect, knows no bounds.

In recent years, what he, Richard and Tim have done to help me and support me, I could never repay.

Ginger is everything to everyone, a friend first, a dj second, a businessman 3rd and an extraordinary, loving and passionate human being.....he's also a Manchester United supporter....THAT, ticks all the right boxes!!😁😁

He's a globetrotter as well, in demand across continents and oceans.

It's well known but probably forgotten enlarge, but he started collecting British release SOUL singles long before the developing import market and as such, has one of the finest collections in the U.K.

No venues reputation is enhanced more, than providing an appearance of the maestro and his box of vinyl magic....no set ever the same, still with the finger on the pulse of anything that catches his ear...like midas, once played by JRT, it turns to gold!

PAPA BEAR, as he is affectionately known, will be adding his unique effervescence to proceedings...but TSOP is home from home for him...as he was resident here in its heyday...he's returning to an old friend...and making it echo to a familiar sound.....😉👍

Me

" Let's Go Round Again " ironic and apt at the same time...or deja vue if you like!.

Having been here before, I know this venue inside out and its historical importance to the scene, particularly in the North West, as for 10 years, it was this part of the country's finest and most well supported outpost of Northern and Modern Soul.

When I first attended, it was the baby of Lynne and Terry Davies, two of the finest and most dedicated people I've ever met.

They gave me an opportunity to dj there, without so much as a reference, but that was their nature and what set aside Prestwich from all other venues and promoters at the time.

These two loveable people believed in carte blanche, anyone who asked was allowed to get behind the decks...but to play in front of an attendance in excess of 450 really was the clincher...that really gave people a spotlight...and on that, TSOP's reputation was sealed.

Eventually, It came to pass that Lynne and Terry would move on, so began a 4 year period of the venue being promoted by Ginger, Barry and myself.

I then went from there to being part of the set up at the relaunched Lowton Civic Hall and for 7years enjoyed some fabulous occasions, alongside Richard, Ginger and Barry Again.

My life has taken a different geographical course in the meantime, having moved to Leeds, I'm fortunate to be able to play at a host of venues in the county as well as further afield.

I'll be on the door ready to welcome you, a position I'm also used to, and even warm up the show for you.

Lots of great moments and memories await, as our 6th reunion approaches.

I, and the Team, sincerely hope it's a " Night To Remember " for you all!😉👍

Above, some selections from my boxes, varying between 7's and great lp tracks, such was and still is, the style best suited to T.S.O.P.

The venue was always breaking ground with unreleased, newly released, club classics, rarities, Northern Soul Anthems, Motown and the cream of CROSSOVER plus the very best of stoppers and RNB in the modern room...thoroughly diverse in every aspect.

Dont forget: our djs are out and about during the coming 7 weeks, so dont hesitate to pick up a flyer and get that £7 discount on the door, on the night...and be prepared to dance!🎵💃🕺🎶😉👍
