About The Event

The COVID-19 measures have left the Rare Soul scene littered with cancelled events and the faithful following home alone at the weekends; so the Bury Town Hall team have decided to launch a ‘virtual’ all-nighter. The show will be broadcast over internet radio every Saturday while we’re under lockdown from 20:00 until the early hours of Sunday morning.

The format will be just like a real event with a selection of DJs from previous and upcoming all-nighters at Bury Town Hall selecting their spots, carefully in order, from actual records they own to keep it real.

You can join us at https://www.radioking.com/radio/soulallniter

We hope you enjoy the show and it goes some way to filling the void and lifting your spirits

'Robert Flemming' - No, all the DJs are not tucked up in bed yet! Here to the 'pleasant' end my friend

(I don't do the radio chat room as enough for me with texting and Soul-source)

Nice one Mick Howard

Len

Mick Howard just played 'The Trends - If You Don't Dig The Blues' (Other side to 'Not Too Old To Cry') I didn't know I owned that side until Karl Rhodes pointed me in that direction when round my house some Ten years ago.

Great choice mate.

Poor Simon - I'm sure the Mix-Clouds will follow, but he really does need to keep his day job going as his first priority :D

8 hours of enjoyment.  Thanks to all involved - I feel like I have really been out

Len

Another great event, so well done to everyone involved.
Hearing so much I didn't know and different versions.
That Williams & Watson LP track - so diffo to the 45 (think that might just be Larry tho ?)  So upbeat !!

Looking forward to the next one,           Tom.

The 45 take is what you would expect to find on the Lp and the LP on the 45, so much better.

14.           Mickey Murray - East of Nowhere

Thanks for posting Chalky.. quite an eclectic set there.. That Mickey Murray is an ace 45 !!

I was gutted to have to miss last night's session of Soul - reliving those horrid gut-wrenching, stomach churning feelings I would experience as a 15 year old when, for whatever reason (usually lack of money, lol) I was unable to venture out on a weekend.. Not nice !!

Hopefully some one will take pity on me, and post the sets on mixcloud or the like.. at least I could then experience the music I missed - even if I didn't get to partake in the joys of the radio chatroom..

I need to know.. Did Pete set us off in a manner to which we have become accustomed ?? Did Baz whisk us off on a journey to another dimension ?? Did Mr Messer match his previous set of supreme Soul ?? Did Simon weave his usual magic ?? Did Lenny stop taking long enough to take a breath ?? Did Mick leave us wanting more ?? Did the dog get it's walk ??

So much to catch up on..

Well as you took the time to make us all smile with a post even though you couldn't afford to go last night Johnny, here is my set for your (and other's) enjoyment

As you can see I only talked 5 times.  Although on Saturday morning Simon texted me how long I had gone over due to my talking, so I insisted on editing 4 tracks out

I really did feel as if I'd been out last night - Thanks.

Len

It is the acetate that Dave T played but it is now known who and it actually exists

It may be a good idea for all the play lists to be posted each week to take the presure off Simon having to also do the Mix-clouds.  He could do that at the click of a button (As long as each DJ doesn't mind of course) At least people can scroll through these lists picking out tunes they don't know / or being reminded how good a track is that they haven't heard for a long time.

Playing music through this radio show has kinda 'fast tracked' breaking unfamiliar tunes to lots of people, which can take an age at events.

Simon's 'walking the dog' idea has developed in to a really good project.

Top night thought every dj dug deep and were all top draw. Highlight of the week for a lot of us and the hard work Simon and djs put in is unreal. Knowing the amount of time puts in its a big task so hats off to you all. Great music 🎶 new and freshing

Just need Baz and Simon's I'm happy to add them to Facebook if needed.

To put an event like this on a weekly basis is no easy task and we can all help I can't do the mix cloud techy stuff though lol

It's a great point of reference for people to look back on and I know a lot look forward to the playback facility as I think a few had been enjoying the Sunny weather bbq drinks etc yesterday

Looking forward to next week already

Presuming DT still has the 'original' uncredited acetate and now you know  who it is because it's turned up on vinyl?

Pete.. Fecking 'eck as like.. Having been an avid LP collector over the years, your Willie Hutch opener has ALWAYS been a fave of mine - but even I can count on one hand how many times I've heard it played out.. Brilliant !! And you threw in one of the greatest Marvin Gaye tracks E-V-E-R !!

Damn.. I ALWAYS miss out !! You bunch of bas*ards !! lol Boo Hoo !! 🤣
