About The Event

The COVID-19 measures have left the Rare Soul scene littered with cancelled events and the faithful following home alone at the weekends; so the Bury Town Hall team have decided to launch a ‘virtual’ all-nighter. The show will be broadcast over internet radio every Saturday while we’re under lockdown from 20:00 until the early hours of Sunday morning.

The format will be just like a real event with a selection of DJs from previous and upcoming all-nighters at Bury Town Hall selecting their spots, carefully in order, from actual records they own to keep it real.

...and we also hope to be posting links for use with iTunes, Windows Media Player, Winamp, Real Player & Quick Time in the near future.
We hope you enjoy the show and it goes some way to filling the void and lifting your spirits

Given that I had to miss last weeks BGT (Bury''s Got Talent), and after seeing the playlists for the night, I think it appropriate to request the following please:

Ferguson Davies & Jones 'I Think I'm Gonna Cry'..

I can just picture the listeners on Saturday.. logging in to discogs to buy a copy !!

Ok.. another request.. This time on the back of a track Sue literally just turned me on to.. From the MPG LP, Marvin Gaye 'A Lonely Man Would Know'.. I'd never heard it before, but what a truly AWESOME slab of soul, and Dancers Delight !!

Much respect to the Bury crew   for the never ending work they have to put in  each week taking precious time to do so  

In order to get to nighters bieng a married man for 30 years i have to bribe my way there  usually   she hates it   ,  now  the mob are happy to see me dissapear for 7 hours on Saturday    !!

Plenty of room mate.  There's 19 records thus far - I noticed on last week's play lists that most were between 22 and 26 records.  Well except for mine which was only 18 records due to my verbaling.  Simon took great pleasure in letting me know that even after I had edited 4 records out because I had gone over my hour, I was still one minute over! 

He even laughed at me saying that he knew how much that would annoy me.  He then sent me a picture of the list of DJ Spot's times not only showing mine as '1 Hour 1 Minute', but he had also drawn a big arrow pointing at it to highlight the fact.....No I'm not still thinking about it Simon.

Martin L it looks like you are in exactly the same situation as me .My wife hates the soul scene ,all nighters etc .She cannot understand how a man in his 50’s (just) want to go to a “disco “ on a Saturday night rather than take his lovely wife out .Thus I don’t get out to soul do’s as much as I would like to .Fortunately she is fine about me visiting Bury “virtually “ What a treat these nighters have been .
The range of music played has been phenomenal. Looking forward to Saturday .!

I'm a lucky guy - Emma is very patient and understanding with me and my obsession, which is a really good thing at the moment as I'm normally locked away in "the studio" 🤣

Also she does 'dig' the music, although she only very occassionally accompanies me to a soul event (never been to Bury) - but I use her as a sounding board for my new tunes, so she's the real DJ - a bit like Nina Dopson (she's the one with the craft LOL)
