Bury Town Hall Virtual Allnighter

This Online Soul Event event has now ended

Event Information

Event Type: Online Soul Event

Event Date & Time:

Event Description

The COVID-19 measures have left the Rare Soul scene littered with cancelled events and the faithful following home alone at the weekends; so the Bury Town Hall team have decided to launch a ‘virtual’ all-nighter. The show will be broadcast over internet radio every Saturday while we’re under lockdown from 21:00 until the early hours of Sunday morning.

The format will be just like a real event with a selection of DJs from previous and upcoming all-nighters at Bury Town Hall selecting their spots, carefully in order, from actual records they own to keep it real.

🎼 This weeks marks the 15th week of the Bury Town Hall Virtual All-Nighter and we'll be making an announcement about upcoming changes to the event towards the weekend - possibly Saturday.

In the mean-time; the Bury Team would like to thank you (the Soul Source crew) for your unerring support which has helped keep us focussed on delivering the show every week - at times a real challenge, not because we don't love doing it though I must add!

Over the past 15 weeks since the first night on (believe it or not) the 21st March, we've broadcast to 35,400 listeners, had around 35 DJs and delivered 113 unique 1 hour sets. Included amongst those numbers are 7 (now legendary) Soul Source All-request sets and on top of those numbers of course we had the All-Request - All-Dayer.

A final statistic is that the number of different records played during the whole series tops 1600 (Baz & I are hatching a plot to try and give away a USB stick to each attendee of the first real All-Nighter with all the tracks included if possible........subject to the usual terms/conditions and lame ecxuses LOL).

Phew - makes me tired thinking about it! 🎶🎵

anyhow - what I mean to say is:  THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH 😍

Wow, it's exhausting reading all of that Simon!

It's been a wonderful thing, keeping us sane and connecting us all of a Saturday evening, having something really positive to focus on.

Let's make 'Week 15' another packer!

Thanks for everyone's efforts putting these Virtual All-nighters together

Couldn't agree more Martin - Baz is the maestro as far as I'm concerned  hangin' on to his shirt-tails for dear life here LOL

In fact I count myself extremely lucky to be able to name so many legends of Northern Soul as my friends and many of them have featured in the Bury Town Hall Virtual All-nighters whenever I've reached out to them and for that I'm forever humbled......

On the grounds of Health & Safety compliance (not virtual), Simon has approved expenditure for 2 official warning stickers for Brigadier Baz's record box so that the public have adequate warning hence forth of said vinyl munitions contained.

Just like to add my thanks again to all who are involved with the virtual all nighter. It really has been a great, different and I suppose, unique way to spend a good few hours on a Saturday night Sunday morning. Looking forward to it again this Saturday.

Nice one 👍

To add to the thanks and appreciations made by folk, I feel it very worthwhile, and extremely important, to extend the actual reality of what, at least, some people feel about the weekly Bury Virtual Allnighters - and I'm more than happy (whilst feeling slightly embarrassed) to put it out there, and admit to being one of them..

It's a true Life-Saver !! And I DO mean that in the literal sense  !! And backed up by an incredible network of Soulies that have first hand experience, and more than happy to be there for you, at any time, if needs be.. That is Something Else and say's so much about a lot of the people involved in our unique Soul Scene !!

Thank you Bury.. Thank You Soulies..

Really..

THANK YOU !!

I think Simon has done his usual, and has been putting the finishing touches on tonight's show since 5 o' clock this morning - I know he's still working on it because I've checked that he hasn't fallen asleep on the job (That don't sound right)

Have a safe journey folks (Well, to and from your 'booze runs')

Laters,

Yes, I'm also looking forward to tonight mate - It's been another long week (Yesterday I worked from 6.00am - 8.30pm) My whole body was aching when I got home.  So a dose of 'Bury' will be a welcome antidote.

More stories from me around Midnight - I'll also play some records if I get time

Len. I'm actually going back to work on Monday after 3 months off, really not looking forward to it . 7am start.  There's been only one 7 o clock in my day and it certainly wasn't the AM one. Looking forward to hearing the stories🤗 ( not sure about the records)   🤣🤣🤣

It's now official - In line with the easing of the lock-down, after 15 weekly shows, 'The Bury Virtual All-nighter' is changing to the last Saterday of every month.

Although the radio station will be playing previous sounds played on the show 24/7 as a back-ground to your days. That, along with all the shows to be loaded up on Mix-cloud as and when Simon and the team find the time to do so (Something to look forward to)

I know we're not 'out of the woods' just yet, but this show has given so many people a real positive through these very strange and worrying times - A real moment in history.

See you all out the other end one day soon

Len
