Evening Len.
I remember you being "not impressed" when I told you I went to Wigan.
Deathly silence - then change of subject.     LOL.

In my defence (Tom) it may have been in the thick of me trying my bestest to 'go against the grain' - It could have been the same night that someone came up to me agressively moaning their head off about Butch saying no when said person asked him to play some oldies - I was on pins that night :pirate:

That said - All these years later, I do apologise my friend

Len

I only went to Wigan three times - well, four if you count the time my car engine blew near Keele and I had to get a taxi the rest of the way.. only to find out it had been cancelled !! And I didn't actually like the place !!

But listening to Mr Holts tape from 1980 made me think I must have just been on 'bad night's' from my perspective - 'cos what I heard last night was feckin' brilliant !! The awesome tuneage shone through so well I could almost imagine myself actually being there that night.. getting lost in the emotive clapping and amazing atmosphere.. hearing records that blow you away - only recognising them by there cover-up titles and having to wait years for many of them to become the super rarities and classics they are today and held in the highest regard.. Superb !!

It was also nice to exchange some banter via the Radio King chat room too.. I'd missed that !!

Top night !!

Now, the hunt is on to try and rescue Nigel's tapes he admitted to discarding at his local tidy tip in the week - consensus being they deserve to be retained for prosperity due their significance.. I'm making regular 'phone calls already to the receiving site, but as yet no one is answering.. It may already be too late, but there is a slim chance - given the time-scale involved, that they could be plucked from their otherwise eternal fate due to the fact the entire bag contained musical cassettes in cases and may just have been segregated from their general waste receptacle.. We will see..

Actually.. does anyone have a contact number for Nigel per chance, please ??

Sure was a night to remember - excellent quality on the tape recording for 40 years ago.
Anyone got a "potted" history on Gary Rushbrooke ?
I don't know anything about him.
But his shortish set of 45's played were pretty awesome.

Cheers.................     Tom.
