Pleased but also interested to hear that you are having this event this weekend. I think this may be one of the first events for a while, so other promoters will be watching with interest no doubt. Can the promoter of this event please give more details about the strict limit on attendance - number of people, % capacity etc. Presumably the venue is providing the guidance on the rules for social gathering such as table distances etc. Does it allow for dancing? All us soulies are desperate to get back to some event normality very soon, so good luck with the event, I hope it goes well. Please post comments afterwards. KTF Jim

I didn't think dancing was aloud in any way, shape or form at the moment. Be interesting to hear if it was permitted by the venue owners.

Watching this post with interest. I am involved in running a venue but was under the impression that loud music and dancing were still not allowed under government guidelines. Every person on the Soul Scene is itching to get back on the dance floor or behind the decks but it looks like we have either been forgotten or classed as nightclubs.

I organised the event after full consultation with the venue management and in accordance with their social distancing plan. Tables were 2 metres apart so that, when seated, a 1 metre plus distance was maintained. Max of 6 per table, the music was at a volume that attendees did not have to shout over to speak to each to other and the dance floor was out of bounds. People did have a crafty shuffle at their tables within their own bubbles and once or twice we had to politely remind people of the rules when enthusiasm got the better of them but everyone played nicely and had an enjoyable time. I gather the rules are changing further from August 1st but have not yet studied them in detail. We deliberately chose a Sunday afternoon/evening slot as we thought the attendees were less likely to get’ carried away’ and it seemed to work.

Im about to post some info from the organisers of a Latin and Ballroom dance event that is hoping to resume in August , with some guidelines and stats that may be useful for Soul promoters . KTF.
