BURY TOWN HALL - THREAT of CLOSURE

Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, there were rumours that Bury Council were considering the future of some of its leisure venues but this was mainly focused on Prestwich, The Longfield Suite, which commercially would probably have been the most valuable for development land. It would seem that the perfect storm of the pandemic and the need for councils to find cash has forced the council to look at all its venues and consider closure. This not only means the loss of these community facilities but the jobs associated with them.

I have received this request from a member of the staff at Bury to ask for our help...

Following a meeting of the Council’s Cabinet on 24th November 2020, closure of all three venues is proposed as an option, on a permanent basis, in order to generate ongoing savings. It is to be noted that a decision has not yet been made, or been pre-determined.

I am asking for your help to keep our venue open so that it can be enjoyed by others for many years to come.

On behalf of The Bury Town Hall All-Nighter team, we ask that you help us to continue by completing the attached link which will form part of the considerations when deciding if the venues are to close or not.

https://www.onecommunitybury.co.uk/burycouncil-civicvenuesfeedback

So please, complete and share the link and help us not only save our all-nighter but also save jobs, livelihoods, and the historic hall.

Thank you

Completed Baz

Ha ha - Honestly, it looked so nice I have been pained to actually put anything on it.  Which is kinda silly I guess, being as that is what it's purpose is

I would post up some photos of this amazing structure, but I don't want to come across as a saddo

You will Love this Mezz floor story. Just before i started at Viridor Bredbury . The fitting shop had a fantastic 20 metre x 10 metre one installed with a Pallet safety gate fitted in among the handrail. ... Guess What..... 40 cm higher than the highest mast Fork lift truck could reach . DOH. They had to install a overhead crane on a RSJ. You could,nt make it up mate.

At about 2am it actually felt like being at a nighter 🙃.  Simon,  Psuedo  ( Andrew  ) and myself where typing bollocks in the chatroom instead of talking bollocks at the real Bury 😳
