LAUNCH OF NEW MONTHLY NORTHERN SOUL SALES LIST. [/B]

Hi all,

I've been asked by a good mate of mine to spread the word about the launch of a new monthly sales list.

Simon Hunt will be issuing a list each month containing 200/300 records.

Ranging from cheapies to rarities. The list will encompass all types of soul from 60's northern, RnB, Seventies through to modern. Simon will have a PO Box set up to deal with orders in the next couple of weeks, but in the meantime, anyone wishing to receive a copy of the list should send their name, address and postcode to me kvcnnlln@aol.com]kvcnnlln@aol.com and I will pass them onto Simon at the weekend.

Cheers,

Kev. C

RnB Rookie.

Mail order only, advertised on the internet, how ironic. Would like to get the list, but not really bothered with paper lists anymore (unless they are damned good and cheap of course!), to be honest it's just a waste of the sellers paper and postage. E-mail is FREE. Why no e-mail list?

E-mail is FREE.

Errr...no. Not if you have to pay for the space, not if you have to manage it properly. No one to my knowledge every managed to knock down a corporate by snail mail.

They could always use someone else's PM system......errrr.....there it goes again, full up! (and php scripting skills come for free? )

I like the idea of snail mail. It's a change from the easy easy world of ebay. Good luck to the guys.

As I explained, I'm just helping a mate build his mailing list, as he does not use e-mail / internet.

Aren't there usually less people chasing the same records on a "mail only" list?

Possibly because he hasn't got a PC ???????????

That thought did naturally occur to me. Investing in a PC and internet might be a good and rewarding idea for someone who wants to sell stuf today though. E-mail is free, if you have a PC and internet. Yahoo and countless others offer reasonably effective free e-mail options. Not my problem really though I guess.

I guess Simon is just a very private guy.

There's nothing underhand behind him using a PO Box.

Well known as a DJ on the scene, he's a top bloke and very reliable. I'm sure there are many on here that would vouch for him.

Hi,

no simon is not selling up. He's just looking to get back into selling.

I know Simon used to sell loads quite a few years back, but I'd never actually seen him with a sales box before. Then he turns up at the NMD alldayer last month with a car full of records. Starting at £3 each!!! You can imagine he was busy all day! Some great bargains in there.

Good luck to him.

After all the good stuff has gone of course! wink.gif Back in the old days of paper lists (still get a few) I know Shifty and some others sent their lists out to Europe a few days before they mailed them to the UK, so we often got them first, which was great. Anglo American simply refused to send lists outside of the UK (lists that were any good anyway, they used to have an auction list of what I guess was mainly leftovers), and despite promises there is still no list available, and no e-mail list either as far as I know. The problem with paper lists is that when you get it there might only be a few items of interest, sometimes not even that, and they will inevitably be gone so usually no point in even picking up the phone, and then you feel guilty since you never buy anything and it costs the seller postage, and as a result they stop sending you lists. One major UK seller (at one time THE major seller) was very strange. I called quite a few years ago, was promised to get the list, and soon I get a large bunch of OLD lists, I get one more list, and that was that. Kinda makes you give up. And they wonder why people think ebay and the internet is great... unsure.gif

I'm hopefully going on line at home.

But my free email is going to cost me £23.99 a month

Still dirt cheap compared to putting stamps on 400 lists or whatever!

Christian, if every one thought like this - then none of the records would be sold!

Agree though, i prefer email lists - alot easier and quicker for all involved. Though i do like Lew Stanleys mail list - i like looking at the pictures

£23.99/month? I should hope that's some high speed/high end broadband you're getting then, which is going to give you quite a lot more than email  :P

Yeah, super duper instant internet porn access more like. Dirty bugger.

Thanks for that Stu, I will bring back the DVD's I borrowed to the next 100 club

Its one of the faster broadband connections. Drives me insane having a good hand at Poker, only for the connectionto break, and the pot goes to someone else

The added bonus with email lists, is very few are kept for posterity, and get scanned up on forums to show that you could've got a copy of Lester Tipton from Manship for £10 or something.

(Having said that I love looking at those old lists, but my shins get kicked to buggery)

I actually invented email only lists.  First dealer to have a website. First to send lists by email only. First to have sound clips and scans.  First to do cd's. First to do mp3's. First to do dvd's.

All the rest just copied me.

So why are they all rich and I'm poor?

Because you actually like the music Pete and that gets in the way of being a shrewd b***t**d
