Di, the dancefloor at The Railway Club was that sprung we had a seance cause the tables were levitating  ....... but agree it was great for dancing on as well  , will also mention the Harold Club Bradford, it has a lovely sprung dancefloor.

+1 Brighouse, Grosvenor. Good floors both. Though as both ban talc, that should probably count against on flexibility grounds.

-1 for Blackpool Tower. Talc also banned, but without the redeeming feature of being terribly good in the first place.

The manchester ritz great floor for the past vote, and i have to agree with the missus [only cos i want me tea on a plate n not me head] THE WELFARE HALL at easington is a fantastic dancefloor :thumbup::lol:

It seemed to be a dictated requirement , that all Miners' Welfare Halls were built with a great wooden dancefloor .

The WH ( now called The Dearne Community Theatre ) at Goldthorpe has such a floor ........

What's wrong with the wheel?

everything , rock hard concrete , metal poles , pot holes!, too small ,sloping and you have to practically fight for a tiny space on it

at the minute the stables dancefloor is pretty bloody good.not a warp or unvarnished piece on it .bit too much talc sometimes only because i wear leather soles.winsford was ace too.and kings hall ,(till some bugger put french chalk on it near the door one night .walked in an went feet forward RIGHT on me arse).made it impossible to cross never mind dance on.casino was perfection, ritz was warped to f*** in places, 100 club had a few pot holes in it and a little square bout 2 and a bit foot wide which if your on it is fine but dance next to unawares and you.ll end up on your back,ON STAGE under a pile o bags.clifton hall was great massive and smooth even at the back.derby assembly rooms bradford queens hall,..yawn i,ve bored the tits off meself here.

God how could i forget Rotherhams Clifton hall that floor was fantastic.Come to think of it though the night in general can make or break the floor, been to lots of soul nights that looked promsing with nice floors only to turn out crap with no one dancing. no matter how good the floor is there needs to be a good crowd on it interacting and making the atmosphere

The 100 Club is the best by far......I feel I know every lump, bump & pot hole........the floor can be the best in the world, but if the music dont move ya, it might aswell be a car park !.

Russ

My kitchen floor is best!

I used to love Bradford Queens hall, that bounce!! x

Got to agree the Aberdeen music hall was good in the past but the Beach Ballroom Aberdeen has everything you want at an allnighter

absolutely superb

All of them including the times on German Scooter Runs dancing on grass in a field!

I remember the floor at Canklow and how it used to seam to turn to ice? It was a hoot watching visitors go tits up every now and again!

I am not a big fan of the Blackpool type sprung floor as when it's in full tilt it's like dancing on North Sea Fookin Ferries!

I'll dance on just about any thing until Uncle Knob Head spills his drink!

The original raised floor at Manchester Ritz, you didn't need to dance, just bounce along with the rest of the crowd.

Great sprung floor at the Sterling Suite, Yate allnighters, but the Baths venue was orrible. Loved both Wigans floor and The Mecca's and nearly any event help at Mecca venues in the 70's, Coalville Tiffs, Liecester Palais, Nottingham, Newcastle (Stoke), Birmingham Lacarno..........

the beach was good in the past but not a patch on atmosphere as the edinburgh or dundee all nighters

a great dance floor though and i would imagine it has to be up there for the best in the country at this moment

dance floor we are talking about.

another one is the grosvenor hotlel in edinburgh.hosted by the soul boys and no this is not an advert

both dance floors the modern and the oldies room are superb and the atmosphere and sounds are tops

Must only be me who thought the raised floor at the ritz was shite, wigan was great so was bellvue and the cats whiskers but always thought the carousel at plymouth grove took some beating.Worse one would have been at an alldayer at the merry go round [salford]bout 78 when dave holland [from radcliffe] dropped his pants and shat on the floor [i kid you not]and was rather quickly removed from the premises.Sounds disgusting but was funny as fook at the time.

No Andy I agree, it was a trampoline. Part of the reason was that it was built in the center and ontop of the original floor, Heart of England alldayers. The best thing they did was to take it away and expose the the original floor, that was used for the alnighters, now that was a good floor.
