Like you said, the music WAS great, as you could tell by the filled dance floor. Leroyale is an ideal venue with a supurb sound system, and,,,, you could tell the quality of the music as it's aways good for me to see Maz and Steve dancing as they are usually the last on the floor. Missed the end, as we went after Clappy (Steve) decided to do the dying swan act down the stairs. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha I spoke to him today, although his head and hip hurts, his pride was hurt more as he said he couldn't remember falling, only waking up and thinking what an Idiot he was!!! He will be back at your next night though, as he was really enjoying himself up until then. Once again lads, Great night, thanks again, See you at the next one or sooner. cmc
Fantastic night of Soul music again at Banbury. Got to say great sets by Pete Robinson and Jon Willis. They certainly kept the floor filled! Certainly fitted in with our music policy of keeping it fresh with the favourites added in. Lots of new faces from out of town, hope they enjoyed themselves. Little down on numbers on the night, but what with the great weather and most of the locals doing the yearly mid-night walk for the local Hospice it was to be expected. (And talking of charity Banbury Soul Club is pleased to say it has raised from its Soul nights just over £2,000.00 to local charities over the last year. Big thanks to everyone who has supported us.) Anyhow, back to the Soul night. I did the 8.00 - 9.00 shift. Really enjoyed myself. Thought I would play a few 60's, 70's and onwards. Here's my playlist in no particular order. Buffalo Soldier - The Land Of Perdition - SMC Jimmy Gilmer - Thunder and Lightning - Dot Lloyd Price - Every Night - Double L Terry Callier - Don't Want to See Myself - Acid Jazz Ronnie McNeir - The Good Side of Your Love - Expansion Bobby Bloom - We're All Going Home - MGM We Are The People - Making My Day Dream Real - Lion Hugh Boynton - We're Gonna Make It - Soul-Po-Tion Kendra Lou and the Miracles - Everyday - Wah Wah Nolan - What Would You Do If I Did That To You - Lizzard Rhonda McDaniel - Why Am I Crying - Soul Tribe Natalie Williams - This Girl - East Side Records Detriot Spinners - Just Want To Fall In Love - Altantic Little Dooley - It's Got To Be Now Or Never - North Bay Sam Dees - Fragile, Handle With Care - Altantic Norris Vines & the Luvlines - Give In - Soul Tribe Wayne Miran & Rush Release - Oh Baby - Roulette Little Milton - I Know What I Want - Checker Alma Faye Brooks - I Believed - RCA (LP track) Leone Thomas - Thank You Baby - Don King Keep safe, keep dancing! Becket
Well what a hot one it turned out to be last Saturday; Hot outside, even Hotter inside and Hotter still on the dance floor. A good few travellers in - so many thanks to you for making that extra effort. Early dance floor action thanks to Charlie and Ed playing some cracking new and lesser played 45's. Have to say at this do, the 7t's stuff really had the Girls on the dance floor. Our guest DJ's did their bit with bespoke sets for our punters. It worked especially well with them interspersed with the Banbury Soul Crew . It must have been pretty hot as I noticed Tabs with two bottles of Bud in one hand and a J.D. & Coke in the other. Poor chap: must have had a bit of a thirst on. My own set was heavily dominated with 6t's Club Soul for the first 30 mins and thereafter 7t's to keep the Girls happy and dancing. Played [amongst others] , Al Matthews - Fool and New York City - I'm doing fine now, both getting justifed appreciative dance floor action ( cause they're GREAT !) Big $teve ended the night as ONLY he knows how - non-stop dance floor classics. Had us all dancing from start to finish. Our next one is on Sat 19th September - so get that date in you diaries now. Cheers................... Tom. Edited July 7, 2009 by Becket Link to comment
