Guest hurryup
On a serious note though, obviously you wouldn't want loads of handbaggers gate-crashing the place, all expecting to hear the over-played motown tunes, especially at a "rare soul weekender"??? Hope you manage to have a couple of slots, at least, of the rarer, under-played motown stuff, together with glorious sunshine, hope you've remembered to book that, it'll be a top class weekend Only seven months to go Link to comment

Guest hurryup
want a handbag 4 xmas Yes please Anyway, I thank my lucky stars every day cause I'm a hand-bagger, once a hand-bagger, always a hand-bagger , difference is - I've learnt the northern soul code of conduct which is - leave your prized handbag on any old table, walk away from someone in mid-conversation, don't dare to mess about on the dance floor, have no expectations of anyone buying you a drink, don't let anyone see you smiling cause if you're having too much fun, you might get barred and lastly - always wear black Link to comment

Rob Wigley
Had a couple of questions about our new 5th room--Soul Club Stomp--and DJs, music policy etc. For those 2,000 plus who have already visited Bridlington Spa will have some idea of the layout of the building and the ease of access between the rooms. All the rooms are permanent and all but one of the side rooms has wall to wall wooden flooring-either oak or Canadian Maple. The building is "State of the art" and all rooms are double sound insulated to prevent leakage from other rooms,(this has nothing to do with music events as such but is for when the building is used for business conferences) Due to flooding from a burst pipe we lost the rare & underplayed room and moved it up stairs to its new home in 2009. The old rare room-the one to the right of the stage-now becomes our 5th room-dedicated to Soul Clubs from around the UK. This will include everything that is played in a particular club that is being represented, usually featuring 2 DJ from that club to double deck. The sounds will offer the full spectrum of soul music currently on play lists-so expect to hear everything and anything. This also allows us to increase the capacity on the venue by 300, along with the balcony being fully open for the first time (there are over 400 theatre style seats up there as well, to sit and watch the dance floor action-remember Wigan Casino ?!) It will also keep the venue comfortable, with plenty of areas to sit and take the weight of those aching knees !! We "cap" the number of tickets we sell -this year is 2,300, 7 months out and more than half those have already been sold and the flyers only arrived last week, such is the power of the "Word of mouth" at our events. There are plenty of details on this thread about ticket sellers and how to book etc. Bridlington has plenty of Hotels , apartments and cheap B&Bs available within the region of 9,000 "Beds" in the town. Plus 3 large caravan parks as well. Remember this is a SUMMER weekender, so it is possible to tie it in on a break to the Yorkshire Coast and Yorkshire Wolds. See You There Karen & Rob for The ECSCSC Link to comment
