Could you manage a one minute stomp now and then, or are you still up for completing a whole track on your toes. A 60s on-the-4 Motown style beat is a 'stomper' because of the relentless 'stomp, stomp' bass drum and snare whereas the 70s records are more zippy, high hat driven with more percussive drum patterns. Thus the 'shufflers' label to match that fast cymbol drive, fast feet, fast high hat beat, get it? Whatever way you dance to it, a true 'stomper' is instantly recogniseable, the difference for instance between something like 'nothing but heartaches' (stomper) and 'job opening' (shuffler) being classic examples. Always referred to that Mecca style as 'shuffling' and so do all my mates but then again there was fantastic shuffling at Wigan too. I think personally, the verb 'stomping' came in as a evolution of language and people have become confused by that. Strange how these words end up meaning different things to different people.
