Oh Dear, overdone it again mellow.gif Seriously, it just doesn't get any better than this, (well not till next year anyway). What a superb weekend. So much great food, great drink, great soul music and even better friends. So nice to see our Spanish friends again and enjoy their company once more.

Highlight for me was walking into the Cotton Club on Saturday afternoon and being blown away by the atmosphere, my God if you could can that thumbup.gif

Mark, mate, well done with your set in there, sublime and then some.

So, so many good laughs we had.

Alex, once again, thank you Sir for sorting out the rooms at the Hotel, we really appreciate that.

Alex, Aitor. Bob and Gavin, thank you for making this happen.

Right, I'm off to recover some more.

P.S.Photo's on face book.wink.gif

This is with out a doubt live acts aside one of the best weekenders I have ever attended.

The Music at the club and the cotton club was outstanding.

From my point of view it was a breath of fresh air to be able to play to 200 odd people with smiling faces and NO blinkers with regard music.

The European scene for me is a different league to the U.K scene.

All the team that come every year from the U.K are just the best bunch of people going. As you all have said the welcome from Alex and Airtor and the rest of the Spanish crowd every time is just so warm it is unbelievable.

Alex and Airtor are joining the Soul Essence team as of April next year to try and give our event something a little different and I am 100% positive they will!

I have had a lot of messages on all 3 sites about tracks that were played. Play list to follow from me and Coz B.

Troop:

Its 3.30 and I'm sitting here at home comtemplating the events of the past 3 days, from the moment we landed in Bilbao the hospitality of our hosts new no boundaries. Kathy and I loved every minute of it and we will be there next year.

To Aitor and Alex, a huge thankyou.

As for my part in this superb weekender, I was honoured to be asked to play. My playlists are below, they are from a whisky induced fading memory and not in order, but hopefully all there.

The inclusion of the Saturday 'Cotton Club' session is a master stroke and one I hope will become a regular feature. Jim Wray would have approved big time.

Along with the music a top moment to share, having had breakfast I watched Tatts open the door to leave the dining room and promptly walk into a large cupboard banging his head on a row of coat hangers whilst the bemused waiters just stared in disbelief.

The glittering frock wearing 'pole' dancer kindly provided by the promoters to entertain the dj's, yes she/he was very entertaining.

Gavin's short cut to the square in the old town which wore the soles out most of our shoes, the lazy sod jumped in a taxi to get back, leaving the rest of us to limp our way back,

To Bobs mate, the wolverhampton fan, yes I know, but someone has to support them, we had the crack and the banter was something else. Top bloke.

If there are no label etc details then you can assume the track is new, recent and decent cd only.

Great to hear "Shirley & The Shirelles" played to a packed dance floor at peak time Aitor, and then to see it stay full.

Universal Love was particulally well received too.

Loved the whole weekend from start to finish, 1st date in the diary for next year. The Spanish lads worked so hard making everyone feel welcome. A big thank you . Great venue, great city, great new friends.

Musically refreshing, the playlists say it all. Hearing Ruffins "Common Man" at 5am was worth the flight alone.

After time to reflect on Soul 4 Reals latest venture... another excellent weekender - yet again with open minded European punters, puts some of the uk events to shame really...

Couple of tunes played Friday night by the super spaniards. not on playlists Mike Jemison ' You 'll Never Get My Love ' the old Men In The Moon cover up , and Willie Hutchs When A boy... ( rca ).or are my eyes deceiving. me ?

Refreshing to hear plenty new product from B Goucher who highlighted 30 mins of new product on Saturday night. , and not to be outdone those Essence boys playing jazz in abundance on saturday night .

To mention but a few : Miles Davis ' Milestones ' original 45, Janet Lawson ' Dindi ' , Ray Baretto and Bobby Matos ...

All genres across the black music spectrum were covered from new cd tracks to obscure 45s .. alls good !
