Acetate I.d.?

Found an unmarked, beat-up acetate recently. Both sides are obviously demo versions of songs, just (good) voice and electric guitar; they never would have been released in this form. I don't think I recognize the singer or the songs (though one sounds kind of familiar). I played one side on the radio last night: https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/33968, at the 45 minute mark (use the pop-up player and you can skip ahead to get right there). Can anyone help? Thanks.

Thanks for giving it a listen and sharing your thoughts. Yeah, I think it's beautiful. I'm wondering whether a finished version of it exists and am hoping that if it does, someone recognizes the song in its stripped-down demo form and can tell me what it is....

I'll play the other side next week.

It's a nice skeleton. Nice vocals and nice structure. Shame it's so beaten up.

Don't know if it'd work, but there's a cellphone (and I assume PC also) software that records a bit of a song, searches an online database and comes up with the artist, title, etc. it has even been proven to work with some obscure stuff by someone on this site. Might wanna give it a try.

it won't work on a demo vs. the real version, it has to be exactly the same I think, like if you ran a fourier transform on it and compared. If you just covered the song and tried to do it exactly the same, for example, and ran it on the app, I don't think it would recognize it, it would have to be exactly the same. That's how youtube knows to auto-pull a song from a copyright holder automatically if you upload it but not a cover version for example.
