It was an amazing afternoon It was packed to the rafters ( by the way they had a "rafters" reunion too this weekend ) you couldn't squeeze any more in I heard they reach over 600 !

Music was superb and the crowd made it such a "high" of an atmosphere .

You really had to be there to appreciate how good it was.

A guys T shirt says it all

Over 50's soul club - We made the faith .....You keep it

brilliant !

Sums it up really

We had a "Fantastic Day".

Caught the Train from York at 11.15am and was having a lovely Sunday Dinner in the Bulls Heads across from the Train Station by 1pm. Joined the queue at about 2.50pm, got in just after 3pm and the place was bouncing. Did the usual walk about from room to room. Didn't matter which room you was in the Music was "Top Drawer". Pure Classic Wheel Choons. We met up with friends travelling from Coventry, Doncaster, Rotherham, Stoke etc,etc and all over Lancashire........... Just Brilliant....biggrin.gif

I must say though, knowing that there was going to be 700+ people, they should have had more bar staff on. (Hopefully this will get sorted for the next one)?? Normally you get served quick, but yesterday was taking up to 20 - 30 minutes....g.gif

KTF.............. See you in the New Year....thumbsup.gif Bridgey & Linda (York)....thumbup.gifthumbup.gifthumbup.gif

thumbup.gifTwas me who asked for some modern laugh.gif

It was a mega experience, excellent atmosphere and humbling to actually walk into the place were it all started!

I was simply blown away by the sheer magnitude of the Twisted Wheel!

I sincerely thank all of those who made this happen and British musical culture should salute you!!

I signed the petition for the heritage sign; we dare not loose the Wheel!!!!!!!

I am a lover of progressive soul music and to think of what was played at this venue before The Torch, before The Casino, Mecca, cats Whiskers, Samantha's, Va Va's and Imber, it blows me away!

Progressive soul, the Twisted Wheelers set the pace!

I am so fookin mind blown today, mega mega mega!!

If you havn't visited this church then do, you aint gonna hear out new but that's not the point here is it?

Respect

Sunday's wheel was packed- usually is busy but don't think anyone expected quite so many there. Although the bar was more busy than usual I applaud the staff for working so hard.

Sounds great - did you hear owt new?

:thumbup:Yeh it was great, like it ALLWAYS is and as for the myth about hearing nothing new played at the WHEEL.... loads of stuff is played BUT only back catalogue. If it's modern your after forget it!!!....mind Pete.R when once asked for modern did play Mitch Ryder Devil in a Blue Dress that's about as modern as it gets :good: ..... The thing about the Wheel is all us punters know exactly what we are going to get in regards the music and that suits us all. No one who has done a little research on the wheel ever goes away dissapointed and many venues IMHO could learn a lot from what Pete Roberts has re created in that respect shades .... There are absolutally NO politics in the wheel NO bickering and falling out just a lot of real friendly people enjoying a strict music policy (if you want to hear the kind of stuff played try the twisted wheeel forum i guarantee there will be loads on there 99% of folk haven't heard and it's all good Soul)..... Every time i go down the stairs at the Wheel the hairs stand on end to hear the music i love banging out in the coridoors, to be in the original building (from 65 to 71) and then to look at the stage and think my musical heros played there (the likes of Edwin Starr, Jr Walker, Charlie and Inez Fox, Spencer Davies, Ike and Tina Turner to name the minutest fraction) amazes me the atmosphere is unbeatable...... You see little about the wheel on any other forums, the reason for that is not disrespectfull but we only want like minded people to keep the politics OUT and help preserve this amazing club exactly as it IS and WAS.... Last Sunday afternoon was outstanding in terms of numbers (over 700), as usually there are between 4 and 500 in there, Friday nights generally pulling around 3 to 400 as only the stage room is open, but the atmosphere NEVER changes it's allways brilliant :D .......Pete Roberts along with the excellent and tireless assistance of John Green, the dedecation of Jackie Roberts, should all be knighted for what they have done here :innocent: , they have re created history, cause after all THE WHEEL is where it all began..... Long live THE TWISTED WHEEL :D:yes::thumbup:
